NAMI offre une version contemporaine de la cuisine japonaise traditionnelle situé dans le dosseret de la Historic Federal Hill. On y sert des sushis et on propose aussi une cuisine avec des influences américaines modernes. Le tout est présenté dans un décor branché conçu et mis en valeur par des artistes locaux. NAMI est définitivement le nouveau visage de fine cuisine japonaise à Providence. À noter: le restaurant n'a plus le chef qui cuisait théâtralement sur le hibachi. Cependant, vos commandes de cuisson sur hibachi seront réalisées superbement en cuisine, par nos chefs.

    This is a 16-course prix fixe special Japanese dining experience. What is Omakase? Omakase is the Japanese tradition of letting the chef choose your dishes. The word Omakase means, "I will leave it to you." It's a fine tradition that give the chef creative freedom and the customer a memorable dining experience. ** Omakase reservations will require a $50 deposit fee per guest. ** This restaurant requires a credit card in order to make this reservation and reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee according to its cancellation policy. Please note that cancellations will only be accepted 24 hours before the reservation and subject to a fee otherwise.

    Made a reservation on open table but probably didn’t even have to the restaurant was empty on a Sunday night other than maybe 3 other tables. Sat in a booth by the bar and was greeted by a woman who took our drink order and gave us water. Sounds fine so far, except then I guess the young lady who supposed to be our server came to the table to take our order we explained how we already placed our order with someone else which was responded by a verbal “ugh, I hate when she messes with my tables”. Then drinks came out, I ordered a scorpion bowl… I received a beer. Ok no problem, I let our server know and she would take care of it for me. About 15 minutes go by a finally get my scorpion bowl. It was around this time I noticed the woman who greeted us initially was sitting at the bar with a glass of wine herself?! I don’t know if she’s an owner or what, but that’s just not a good look at all. Server finally took our order and didn’t know the menu at all. Didn’t ask how I wanted my steak cooked, what I wanted to go with it, didn’t know the difference between any of the sushi rolls. It took about 10 minutes to place our order just to make sure she understood everything and we didn’t even modify any of the dishes! This was just a complete lack of menu knowledge. When the food came out it was 10/10 flavor was excellent and everything was cooked right so nice job kitchen staff! Except the server did forget a side of fried rice, again no big deal but the lady who is on her third glass of wine now went and got it for me and started scolding the server. This woman needs to stop getting involved with guests owner or not. We actually liked our server but could tell she needed more training. Not to be put down and shoved out of the way by a woman/owner who has been drinking at the bar all night. I can definitely tell why this place was empty if that is how it is being run.

    Nami is our go to restaurant every time we are in town. It has become our traditional place to go for every celebration and every time we drop our son off for college! Best sushi ever!!!!

    The sushi tasted off. We sent only one roll back and they said “Sorry this wasn’t up to YOUR standards. Thanks for the feedback”. And they removed that roll from the bill. We got sick shortly after, presumably from the sushi, but of course you never really know. However this is the second time it has happened to us after eating here. Might just be a coincidence, but we know what bad sushi tastes like. This place used to be good so this has been disappointing.

    Our omakase experience was amazing! Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. What a wonderful experience and pleasant night. Highly recommend!

    our server was amazing! She checked in on us whenever we needed, and felt like she could have joined us at the table! 1000% want to go back specifically because of the positive experience we had with our server, thank you!

    Restaurant was dark and gloomy, though very clean. Sushi was well priced for the most part, but many of the white fish were very chewy. Price was good for the quantity.

    I had booked omkase at 5:30 for six people on Sunday 06/23. The restaurant contacted me the day before my reservation to ask if we could change to 7:45 instead due to some sort of booking error and I agreed. We arrived at 7:30 and were not seated until 8 PM because we had to wait for other parties to arrive. The first dish was served at 8:22 PM. There were 12 people in total for the omakase which made it hard for the sushi chef to engage and explain each course. It was also very time consuming and a lot of waiting for whatever reason. This was by far the worst omakase experience I had at Nami. They were not prepared because they ran out of uni and caviar. Soup was served at 10:52 and dessert at 11:05 PM. We were not offered any complimentary pieces to make up for the lack of service or wait time. I would not recommend omakase at Nami after the terrible service and experience last night. It would have been better to cancel or reschedule us then give us the horrible experience.

    Stanley was a great chef! The food was so good and so fresh. I believe Vanessa was the bar tenders name..LOVED HER. She was nonstop all night and had a smile on her face the whole time.
