It’s always a treat to dine at Musso & Frank’s. My guests and I had a lovely dining experience. The service was superb and all wait staff were friendly, attentive, and professional. Each of our appetizers, entrees and desserts was delicious and beautifully presented.

The food was not up to the usual standards we are used to. Medium rare lamb chops were overcooked, too much breading on the fried oysters, pork chop was overcooked.

Very rude staff. We were chastised by the manager for not ordering dinners, as we were not that hungry. Lipstick on water glass, polenta was not hot and waiter visibly annoyed that we ordered light.

We love old historic steakhouses, and I am sure Musso and Frank at one point had authenticity, however the whole experience was sorta gimmicky. The server had this whole cheesy speech that was sort of over the top, and when I asked his opinion and anything that had him go "off script" there wasn't much genuine engagement. Ordered wine, the somm came and opened it without a single word. Weird. Food was good (ribeye cap okay, sweetbreads delicious), a bit underwhelming for the price, I think you are largely paying for the tourist experience. Also not sure how I felt about the super tall booth walls on one side of the restaurant. Very private, but we kinda like being social. If you want to actually see other diners and the energy of the place, ask to be seated on the other side. Overall good for our anniversary, but I'd keep looking for more of a hidden gem in future.

During the past 36 years living in Los Angeles my many dinners at Musso & Frank's were occasions. Guests in town, a special event, a time to impress others, etc. I have never actually dined there just to go have a dinner. Sorry, so many restaurants in LA compete, yet last night M&F was the one I chose JUST for a regular dinner out. Everything about it was just as special and impressive as the dozens of previous times when guests were invited. I broke from the range of menu items I've come to love and tried their famous Fettuccini Alfredo and was totally pleased. My partner got the Sand Dabs which we've both enjoyed before and they never disappoint. The Steak Tartare appetizer was also a new find and highly recommend getting it. Now M&F will be on my mind whenever I simply want a night out at a restaurant; and will always be on the "itinerary" list for guests and gatherings.

Our first time trying this classic restaurant. We were just in town for the one day and happened to be staying near the place, so thought we'd give it a try as it is such a classic place. I made reservations over a month in advance and could only get 5pm seating. So, book WAY in advance. The place was packed and all kinds of folks were there...great for people watching. Great ambiance in a kind of restaurant they don't really make anymore. It's all expensive, of course, but it was all very tasty. Be sure to order a cocktail or two; they are made in the classic way. This is where you go to get a Martini or a Manhattan...not a Lavender cupcake vodka martini or a Cucumber watermelon mojito. The place was quite, quite loud, so conversation with my wife was pitched loudly as well. But it was all a lot of fun. The service was friendly all around, except for our waiter. He started out okay and was helpful with a couple of questions, but I think he must get a commission on selling wine, because as soon as we allowed him to remove the wine list, he became abrupt and could barely muster a smile. We had mentioned it was our first time, and maybe he thought we were dumb rubes. We were dressed nicely and I don't think we didn't fit it (unlike other folks who came in t-shirts and shorts like they were going to a cruise ship buffet). And we bought appetizers, entrees and dessert, along with cocktails...so it's not like we didn't have money. Anyway, the asst waiters and greeter and others were all very nice. It was (probably) a once in a lifetime experience. I'll always have a picture in my head when a character in an old detective novel or a current Bosch novel goes to Musso & Frank for dinner!
