Food was excellent and our server was attentive. Each diner was provided their own large bottle of chilled water.

Our first visit to the Mount Vernon Inn was at the end of the day of the July 4th celebration. My wife and I were hot and tired, and we were happy to sit in the quiet, cool, and consistently Colonial atmosphere. We expected the place to be crowded, but were happily surprised to be seated in a room by ourselves; the place is divided into three or four rooms, with maybe five or six tables in each, and all the other tables in our room remained vacant the whole time we were there. The menu has several interesting choices, drawing from historic and regional fair appropriate to George Washington’s life. We really enjoyed the peanut soup for our appetizer. Our server went above and beyond to please us, including bringing us a free second cup of the soup since we enjoyed it so much! It was pretty filling, and I couldn’t finish the roasted turkey pot pie I ordered for my entree. That was an interesting dish, not quite what I expected, as it was kind of inside-out, a dish of a sort of turkey stew with a large biscuit in the middle. It was very tasty, but I thought the biscuit was a bit too much and somewhat dry without the surrounding gravy. My wife really enjoyed the lamb chops with bacon jam, which she finished along with the green beans, but ended up bringing the mashed potatoes home. I brought home almost half of my dinner, and it made a lovely lunch the next day. Again our server was more than helpful with bringing us to-go containers and instructing us on the best way to pack our food for the ride home. Our experience here was very positive as an end to a historically rich and celebratory day. We gave it four stars rather than five because we wouldn’t expect foodies who might go there just for a dining experience to rank it with the top five-star restaurants. For a tourist dining destination, it’s excellent!

We absolutely loved this place. The whole experience at Mount Vernon was amazing. We weren’t originally going to eat here, but we were glad we did.

Went for sunday brunch. Food was excellent and the price was great compared to what you pay at restaurants these days. The service was equally good. Thanks for a lovely time and easily accomodating my 99 year old mother in a wheelchair!!

A welcomed break from the heat, which got us ready for the afternoon. Very good waiter and service. Food was really good and very reasonably priced. Atmosphere was appropriate for the setting. A great lunch and experience.

As we completed one course, the next curse came out. There was no rush and the food was at the proper temperature. The server was observant but not hovering. Very good food and excellent service

The most beautiful way to dine at an historic site. George Washington would be abundantly proud of the food, service, and overall experience provided at the Mount Vernon Inn.

The food was outstanding. My family had the lamb chops, a southwest chicken salad and the club sandwich with fries. All excellent. Our server was wonderful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming.
