Food was lovely, loved the Christmas decor, just wish we had been seated at a table closer to the fire, we were sat in the very back near the bar with windows and it was quite chilly there. We only had two people, and it wasn't crowded when we came, so it would have been nice to be seated somewhere warmer especially since it was so cold outside when we were visiting. Otherwise, the food and service was great.

Food was ok. They were out of a lot of things so that wasn’t great. For being NYE, you’d think they would stock up a little more. Service was great. Our waitress was very sweet and friendly

We ordered the fried green tomatoes (ok), hoecake (ok) and corn bread (too dry). For dinner I had the trout (pretty good) and for dessert the bread pudding (ok).

We were here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Our server is very attentive and really took care of us. He also know that we are celebrating my husband’s birthday and was attentive to mu request for a small candle on the cake. We ordered buffalo chicken flatbread-very flavorful, filet mignon, salad and kids meal. For dessert, the flourless chocolate cake was super delicious and the New York cheesecake was very tasty. After lunch, we went to the shops, they have wines, clothes, toys and novelty items.

Wonderful setting, great service and good food. Highly recommend hoecakes and flourless chocolate cake.

We have been going to MVI for many years and it has been consistently good. This last visit was a little disappointing. First and foremost, we chose MVI because they had Lamb on the menu, but when we arrived we were told that they had no Lamb and hadn't had it for a while. Please....update your on-line menu! The next issue is that even though they have a bartender they have the wait-staff make the mixed drinks, which did not work out well and this was a simple two ingredient drink. As always food was good and staff was friendly. Will continue to go to MVI, it would just be nice if they "tightened" things up a bit.

We had peanut soup for starter and then shrimp and grits, mushroom flatbread, jambalaya and BLT with green tomatoes. Everything was delicious. Our server Alex was great. Very accommodating and super friendly. A great lunch despite the restaurant being very busy.

Good food and nice service here. Although it's adjacent to a major tourist attraction, the prices are reasonable.

Every entre dish was generous and savory. (Turkey Pot Pie, Stew, Pasta, Salads). The seared TROUT paired with a side of Brussels was excellent. Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu items. Allow time to visit the gift shop.

I’m modifying my 22nd December review of the disastrous, disgusting dining experience at the Mount Vernon Inn after seeing reviews which must be coming from the restaurant. It is impossible that anyone can find the food or the ambiance even remotely appealing, hence I am flagging this to other OpenTable diners. Original review: I’ve never had a more disappointing experience dining at an OpenTable restaurant. Given the historical setting, it’s unfortunate that the restaurant serves poorly prepared food with a total lack of ambience.
