   Always a great time at Monte’s. The food is great (although I would ask for no capers in my Caesar salad next time) and the service is excellent—and they make a great cocktail. The room is tight, but you you feel like you’re in a special place and that’s just part of the atmosphere. Looking forward to next time.

   Same location since 1918 and only three owners in all that time. Mussels in white sauce were outstanding, soaked up with bread drizzled with a wonderfully fruity olive oil. House salad a standout. Pasta with red clam sauce stupendous. Old school Italian restaurants like this are disappearing from NYC. Go to Monte’s now!

   Old school cool! Trek down the stairs to escape the otherwise very college-y mess outside. Delicious and generous portions with sweet staff. The bill for 6 was under 100 pp with drinks (including a big carafe of wine), multiple appetizers, and multiple mains for the table. Great for a group looking to have a very classic NY night.

   A Definite GoTo Restaurant! Restaurant in the the heart of Greenwich Village for over 100 years. “Old School Red Sauce” place. Been going here since 2016. Food outstanding: Highly Recommend the Eggplant Rolatini & Fried Mozzarella as Appetizers. Main meal….Manicotti is a one of the best I’ve had. And I’m 100% Italian! Also Tortellini exceptional. Favorite deserts are Tartufo Ice Cream & Cheesecake!!

   Delicious old world Italian. Great service and good food.  The homemade pastas were delicious.

   This was our second visit to Monte’s in the past year which says a lot given the amount of restaurant choices the city offers. The food here is top notch authentic Italian. This visit we had the eggplant rollatini which was maybe the best I’ve had in a very long time and the tortelloni, which was freshly made in house and also fantastic. Our waitress did not steer us wrong in her recommendations. The staff is friendly and attentive and boy do they hustle to accommodate their patrons. The room is crowded but we were lucky enough to sit at a corner table that was cozy and intimate. I would highly recommend eating here and we’ll definitely be returning. Grazie!

   We enjoyed the meal— not huge portions, but we didn’t leave hungry. We added to the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and mentioned it to our waiter when we sat down. We paid our bill and as we were leaving the waiter brought out a squirt of whipped cream with a candle, which was an obvious afterthought, as the table next to us had a full dessert and candle. While the food and service was good, this unfortunate afterthought soured our experience a little bit.

   We love going to Monte’s whenever we come to NYC. we are never disappointed. Good food and neighborhood atmosphere.

    Great “Old School” feel . Delicious food and great atmosphere. Waitstaff knew the menu and knew their stuff! I would recommend to anyone hitting the East Village. The Saltumbucca was notable.
