Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Yaletown, Minami Restaurant delivers one of the most unique and innovative dining experiences to Vancouver. Minami follows the pioneering footsteps of sister restaurant, Miku for introducing the Aburi style or flame seared technique to Vancouver’s thriving sushi scene in 2008. Aburi sushi requires no soy sauce or wasabi, as the chefs create specialty sauces using non-traditional Japanese ingredients to complement the flavor properties of each variety of fish.

From the kitchen, seasonal and regional ingredients are integrated into dishes to reflect the diversity of responsible food choices. Traditionally trained Japanese chefs are inspired by global flavors and cutting edge techniques to create a new style of cuisine. The culinary approach evokes passion and beauty, as each dish is artfully plated on custom-designed Arita Yaki plate ware, handpicked by owner, Seigo Nakamura.

    I originally made a reso for 6 plus high chair and then called in asking to have 7 plus high chair since on the app I could not make a reso for 7 adults. They said they were able to accommodate but when arriving the table was set for 6 seats. They were able to add another table after we arrived. Food was fine. Our guests, which was their first time dining here were upset on the portion of the sablefish and for the high price. Overall our table was not blown away with what was eaten for a $900+ bill. Would have appreciated at some point during our stay that the server would have asked about the bill and if we wanted one bill or by seat. Instead we were given the one bill and had to divided the cost ourselves. We would have preferred to have each seats billed separately as some guests ordered cocktails and additional items and others did not. We understand that items could not be spilt between guests due to their payment program/system but we did not need any items spilt. Just simply needed whoever ordered the item to have been put on their own bill. For a more fine dining establishment and the amount of money spent we would have liked to been more informed and have our guests feel better taken care of.

    Ting, our server was excellent. The food was too. Try the salmon oshi sushi. Fabulous.

    Grateful to have a last minute reso and then have the couch on the patio in a quiet space. Especially when showing visitors the best Aburi in town! Always topped off with great service from all the staff.

    Excellent evening with a friend for dinner! The food was spectacular aburi mackerel and squid were the highlights until we had dessert. Our server was amazing great service excellent suggestions!! Thank you!

    I loved the sushi, it was some of the best I have had and all the appetizers we tried were delicious as well. The service was incredible and friendly. My wife does not like sushi but she loved the waguy steak the restaurant offered. The cocktail selection was good and different. The location of the restaurant in Yaletown is convenient and close to many other restaurants and bars you can enjoy after. The place is not cheap but well worth it if you like fine dining. The place was upscale without being stuffy and fake. I loved our family experience there.
