Right in the midst of downtown Riverside, California, is Palenque Kitchen. It is said to have the best Mexican in downtown Riverside. The funky atmosphere features colored lighting, lounge areas and some Mexican art. The private dining area is also ideal to book your celebration or event. The hip and fun staff will help you choose from all the amazing dishes on offer.

Palenque Kitchen serves up authentic regional Mexican cuisine but with a modern twist. Start with one of handcrafted margaritas we offer or a beer if liquor is not your preference. We love the ambiance! The decor is beautiful and the restaurant is extremely clean. Staff are multicultural and different genders and ages! This was beautiful to see to be honest. So they are inclusive restaurant. The host, waiters/waitresses were all very professional and personable. Waiter was patient and explained the drinks and food items as it was our first time. The music was very loud which made it hard to speak to each other at first but then it was nice because we could only hear our table with music being so loud. The brunch was really good. We did not wait long after ordering. The food came out hot, fresh and presentable. The steak on the chilaquiles was different and some pieces hard to chew but the flavor was still great. The aqua gets as are refreshing but just packed with ice, ask for light ice. We will be coming back for sure. I highly recommend coming here for brunch if you’re in the area, we surely will be.

At Palenque Kitchen Riverside, while the service is friendly and welcoming, the food doesn’t quite live up to expectations. I ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas, which were hot but not sizzling in the way fajitas should be, leaving the dish feeling a bit underwhelming. I also tried the Pulpo and Brussels sprouts dish, where the octopus came out mushy, a texture that detracted from the overall experience. The Brussels sprouts were fine, but the lack of proper texture in the octopus was disappointing. Overall, the meal was adequate, but it lacked the excitement or passion that could have made it stand out. It’s a decent spot for a casual meal, but don’t expect a culinary experience that will leave a lasting impression.

Sally was a B-word! Sally is not worried about getting fired! Sally thinks she can add extra charges for no reason! Sally was rude and has no experience with customer service although she is well over age. She doesn’t deserve a job or kindness!

I enjoyed my time at this restaurant. The servers were pretty standard, but kind the food was OK. It wasn’t the quality that we expected however, the nachos were amazing 10 out of 10

We had dinner on a Sunday, early evening, so it was not crowded. It is a well decoraded space with a modern, somewhat chic vibe that is enhanced by contemporary Urban Latino music. Service was excellent and prompt and the food was good. I would definitely return to try some of their other dishes. We had the margarita flight, which was excellent. Great flavors with good alcohol content and beautiful presentation. Food - we started with the guacamole and chicken tinga tacos for appetizers. Freshly made chips, solid guacamole, would have been even better with a bit more salt and lime juice. The taquitos were delicious and the lettuce and pico adoring them, were not only exceptionally fresh, but well seasoned on their own. For our main course we both had enchiladas, I with shrimp, my spouse with chicken. Beautiful presentation, the chile verde sauce on the enchiladas was fresh, approximately tart, and spicy. An enjoyable dish. For dessert we had the Churros con Chocolate - exceptional! One of the best churros i've ever had. They were warm, delicious, the dough was soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and the chocolate sauce was perfectly hot. A stupendous treat. A great dining experience

While the food and service were excellent, it was hotter inside than outside. Sweating while eating is not very desirable.

This was my first visit and not my last! The menu is first rate and all my choices were excellent. The server was very attentive and helpful in explaining the ingredients in our selections.
