The setting and staff are great. The menu is interesting and adventurous. The Prawns were great! Realizing that German food is “heavy and starchy” we were still disappointed not to have had any fresher tasting options without as much buttery, cheesy fried bland variety. The Spaetzle is particularly bland- just know what you are getting into. We will try again especially if we are really hungry - because we know the quality of the bar, the kitchen and staff- we would just check the menu prior to make sure we are all on the same page.

Literally the best meal I’ve ever had! Perfectly cooked venison with charred fennel and cabbage! Bright bursts of kumquat were a treat that made each bite perfect. Our new date spot for creative cocktails and a unique menu.

Excellent food and service. I especially like their wine selection. Great German wines that are rare finds in the US.

Amazing food and service. The prawns were the best I've had, and the cobia appetizer and Kale salad with zuchhini. stilton, and baked pretzels were imaginative and perfectly balanced. Well be back,

We had a wonderful date night dinner! The server was friendly and attentive without hovering. He also went above and beyond to accommodate a good allergy. The food was, as always, fresh and delicious -- especially the crudo made from fresh-caught cobia from the Chesapeake Bay!

This must be our 20th meal here and the food and service are amazing every time. The menu constantly changes which gives us reason to keep coming back and trying new things!

Excellent service (nathanial) Could hear ourselves speak without shouting which is VERY rare in RVA eating establishments! Food is always good and nice variety..ditto wine & beer selection.

Fantastic brunch. We have been to Metzer's several times now for brunch and it never disappoints. Soft scramble was perfect and I love the smoky mozzarella. My spouse had the hash, a dish I had previously avoided because I was worried about the heat from the sausage. I tried it today for the first time and realized that I could handle it. 😊 Maybe this will be what I get next time. The staff is always friendly and attentive too!

Enjoyed it. Seemed a little pricey even though food was good. We thought it was not quite worth the fare relative to similar other spots in richmond in the back room. Sound system was a little too loud. Hard to hear companions when they were talking to each other. (They were on the wall and the noise was coming from behind Me in the room )
