Matisse Restaurant, situé entre Chevy Chase and Upper Northwest, propose de la cuisine contemporaine française aux habitants locaux et aux acteurs du pouvoir de Washington. Dans un espace conçu par Thomas Pheasant, les clients dînent avec des ingrédients saisonniers frais, bios et locaux dans une atmosphère chaleureuse et détendue. Les portes françaises et le design donnent une sensation bien aérée dans toutes les salles à manger. Des espaces privés pour dîner et la Chefs table dans la cave à vin sont disponibles pour des occasions spéciales ou tout simplement pour se faire plaisir. We had a fabulous time dining Al fresco on the front patio. Our meals were delicious ….3 halibut specials and one veal, 4 different salads and tasty apple tart and Pavlova for dessert. The cocktails were especially mouthwatering and the featured red wine was so smooth and tasty. The service was outstanding. Highly recommend Matisse!!!

It was such a pleasure to spend the evening without noise and hustle bustle. The wait staff was superb and the hostess was professional in how she seated the individual tables.

Dined at Matisse with friends on a Saturday night. First of all, the front of the restaurant gives no indication of the spaciousness of the upper floor dining room. It was spacious and well lit. Staff was excellent, very attentive and courteous. The menu had great choices and the food was delicious, each of our party of three were very happy with dishes. I can't recommend this restaurant enough - it was a completely enjoyable experience.

Matisse is a true neighborhood gem. We are long term customers going back to when the original restaurant was in Potomac, MD, and will remain so!

The menu was very inviting! My friend had soft shell crab and I had a branzino. They were both delicious- perfect- as were the vegetables that accompanied them. Lots of people around us ordered delicious -looking desserts. We were too full. Our waiter was outstanding! We were seated in the back room where it was very quiet and there was good lighting. I look forward to returning soon!

Usually, Matisse is a good dining experience. This time, the service was great, but the steak I ordered—rib eye, and the tournedos my wife ordered were tough. Not up to Matisse’s usual high standards.

We went on a Saturday night when the restaurant was full. We were seated in the back room at a table for 5....the food and service were very good, and the decor is pleasing. The experience, however, was less than enjoyable because of the noise level in that room. None of us at the table could hear each other. When we left, we walked through the front room...the noise level was less than half of what we experienced in the back. Next time will request the front room.
