In the 15th Century, Prince Henry the navigator ordered his explorers to bring back to Portugal any exotic fruits, nuts and plants from the new lands. Tomatoes and potatoes are taken to Europe, Brazilian pineapples were introduced to Azores, Brazilian chili peppers grew in Angola, African coffee was transplanted to Brazil.
Today the Portuguese fondness for ingredients like cinnamon or curry powder, is also a legacy of his time. The Romans brought wheat and introduced onion, garlic, olives and grapes. Later the Moors were the first to plant rice and introduced figs, planted groves of lemons, oranges and almond trees. Portugal is a seafaring nation with a well-developed fishing industry trading cod since the 15th century.
Today, naturally, Portuguese cuisine varies from region to region , but fresh fish and shellfish are found on virtually every menu. BOM APETITE!!!!

Very nice to go to a restaurant where you don’t feel rush the food is excellent. The service was top-notch from the moment you walk into the moment you’re leaving. It’s a wonderful experience.

We dined on a Wednesday night which was also steak night. Two of us had the ribeyes, one could have been a little less cooked but overall delicious. Third steak was the strip steak, again delicious. Service was efficient and friendly. Prices were excellent for the quality and quantity of our meals. Highly recommend Mar Belo.

Cuttlefish stew and beans and Whiting Francese. Delicious where can you get that on a Friday night. Only here. Service is great as always. Drinks are good but it's all about the food. I would keep both of these dishes on the specials menu although I don't know if people appreciate cuttlefish as I do. Try it you will love it.

Another wonderful meal served as always with attentive friendly service. We had the twin lobsters on special every Thursday evening. They were delicious and were both full size lobsters. Actually I had to stuff myself to finish both!
