First time dining here. Server and service was great and food was fantastic. I had expected a different atmosphere. Thought it would be more intimate. The main dining room we were in had nice decor but tables were pretty close to eat other. That with the radio playing overhead made conversation a little difficult and less private. I hope the next time we visit we can sit in the other dining room. It appeared much more like I had hoped for. But it was empty and not being used.

The Best food in St. John’s- others should emulate these type of food/wine offerings, welcoming attentive staff and cozy atmosphere. It was our “last supper” in St. John’s and we had delicious well prepared food served at a comfortable pace with an excellent bottle of wine. Too bad we didn’t try this place sooner! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

As always, the service and food was outstanding! We changed up our routine tonight. Had the onion rings and potato skins to start. The rings are coated with Miss Viki’s salt and vinegar chips with beet ketchup on the side. Delicious! Bacon jam on the potato skins was a treat! We both had the seafood pasta. Scallops, prawns, and mussels. It was delicious! We were both too full for dessert, but I highly recommend the nut phyllo. I can’t believe I didn’t get it and bring half home. I will next time.

Always terrific food and service at Magnum & Steins. It was a bit humid in the restaurant though, so perhaps having the A/C on during our rare hot summer evenings would be nice. Still the best place in town for fresh, tasty seafood though!

An absolutely amazing restaurant! 15/10 for both the food and service. The duck confit nachos are a must have. Looking forward to another visit

Great food in downtown St.John’s. As visitors to NL, while in general we enjoyed the traditional foods during our 2-week travels around the province, Magnum and Stein’s was in a different category. The lamb shanks were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the baked cod was served in a surprising and delicious sauce. Highly recommended for foodies in NL.

Guest had the half rack of lamb which was well presented and cooked correctly although the lamb was a bit bland. I chose one of the daily specials, poached salmon. I regret my choice. Salmon portion was small, again bland, and served with a large caesar salad that was not impressive at all. Considering that the salmon was the more costly entree ($43 vs $40) I had expected more than the generic plate I received.
