Overall our experience here was very good. The service, particularly that of our waitress and the guy outside in charge of the valet parking, were truly excellent; they were so friendly and kind. Our starters and main courses were delicious (particularly the crab salad and the whole grilled bronzino - I’m actually still thinking about the fish, it was that memorable!). However, the one thing that really fell flat, and made us both shrug and go “huh” was the dessert. My dining companion chose the deconstructed cheesecake, and while I’m admittedly not much of a fan of the traditional thing, I was mildly interested since it was described by our waitress as being really good. I was so confused when it arrived, deconstructed is one thing, but this dish literally looked like a pile of vanilla pudding dropped on a plate with a couple of pieces of graham cracker brittle next to it. It didn’t taste much different to that if I’m entirely honest, and the brittle was chewy, which I doubt was intentional. And this dish was $18! It was more expensive than some of their cocktails! Totally not worth it, and really downright disappointing. Anyway, all that to say, go for the mains and the service, which were outstanding, and do a hard pass on the desserts (at least the one we had).

A hidden gem in mount Vernon. I took my husband out for his birthday. The food was amazing, the ambiance was romantic and service staff were friendly. I would recommend to anyone for a special occasion.

We were thrilled with our dinner at Magdalena. We live in Baltimore and had not been before but we will certainly go back. My husband's beet salad appetizer was the best beet dish he's ever had. My gazpacho was summery, fresh and flavorful. His scallops and my haddock were both perfectly prepared in ways that highlighted their natural flavors without overwhelming them. We loved the ambiance, which felt elegant but not stuffy, tasteful but not trying to put on any airs and so very comfy. Our service was also excellent. There was one small glitch with a drink order but it was minor and would have been corrected if we had asked. Overall, a truly delightful evening.

The food was amazing. Service was a little slow so we were there a lot longer than we anticipated, but overall it’s a great place and we will come back.

Made reservations for my girlfriend's birthday. The place was fairly empty and we were seated and given menus. We picked out three entrees and two appetizers and waited 15 minutes for our waiter to come and take our drink order and another 15 minutes to receive our drinks. The waiter came back 5 minutes later (now 35 minutes without even taking our order) and said that he should have told us earlier, but 3 of the 8 entrees on the menu were no longer available. 2 of the 3 were the main entrees that we intended to order and there was nothing else on the menu we wanted as substitutes, so we left our drinks, got up, and walked out. I called the manager on the way to another restaurant. He was apologetic and offered to make it up to us if we wished to return after they got through "a week of growing pains." I told him I would have been happy to do that if they had notified us of the issues up front instead of wasting 35 minutes of our time and leaving us very little time to get to another restaurant as most places close at 9 pm during the week and it was already 8:15 pm at this point. We won't be going back.
