** Le Macello a récemment été classé n°2 pour la meilleure pizza à Chicago, par le Chicago Magazine (novembre 2015) ** Le Macello sert une cuisine italienne de la région des Pouilles, ainsi que des steaks et des côtelettes. Ce restaurant rustique, qui est aussi une épicerie et une charcuterie, est situé dans le quartier des entrepôts (West Loop). Il offre une salle à manger spacieuse avec des poutres en bois, des briques apparentes et deux fours à bois. Le menu propose beaucoup de pizzas à croûte mince et des linguine aux fruits de mer dans une sauce aux tomates cerises épicée. L'épicerie-charcuterie située à l'avant du Macello tient des salaisons, des fromages et des aliments des Pouilles, le «talon» de l'Italie. Le mot «macello» désigne un abattoir. Le bâtiment abritait en effet un abattoir dans les années 1920.

Excellent food and ambiance. Outstanding bar tender. Enthusiastic waiter. Only soft spot was waiter seemed spread too thin. Had to wave him down a few times for service .

The food, amazing. The cocktails, delish. The service, exceptional. The atmosphere, perfect. We are in Chicago for the week and boy are we glad we chose Macello’s. We both took a chance and ordered dishes we’ve never had before. I had the Orecchiette Braciole and my wife had Trofiette al Pistachio, both amazing. 10 out of 10 would come again!! Our waiters were knowledgeable, attentive and personable.

Great food and service. This is our second time dining at Macello’s. We had the risotto with seafood in a spicy tomato sauce. Delicious! So much seafood and perfect spice and acid. They also have a great wine list and bourbon selection.

Excellent food! They were busy and short-staffed but the managers/owners were letting us know and helping out. Wonderful food and great atmosphere!

I originally had a reservation for 5 but changed it to 14 a bit last minute and they were able to accommodate !! I appreciated the beverage and food recommendations and friendly service that was provided. Place was very clean and pleasant to have celebrated my birthday. 10/10 would definitely return!

Good food and great service. We always walk past this restaurant and one night we decided to have date night here. We were pleasantly surprised by the great service and food. We will definitely be back.

I took a dear friend to Macello‘s for dinner. She wanted to go someplace off the tourist track, but with good food. Marcellos has never let me down. I wasn’t sure if she wanted to eat casual or have some thing a little more fancy. The menu there covers all the bases. I thought we could do pizza and salad some pasta, or a full entrée. She ordered the Italian wedding soup to start and said it was excellent. I had the Marcello salad, which is fine, but was unremarkable. We ordered two pasta dishes to share. The wait staff was very attentive of and when we indicated we were sharing, they brought us not only the two large bowls of pasta but individual plates so we could split the orders as we wished. One of the pastas was on special with a sauce of cream and Beratta cheese with mushrooms and pistachios. OMG it was fabulous. Our second pasta was more traditional with their delicious red sauce and pieces of super tender beef. We finished off the meal with gelato and tartufo. Everything was perfect with the exception of the noise level. When we first went in everything was fine, but later there was a couple very loud tables nearby and conversation proved difficult. This wouldn’t put me off again as the food was outstanding. By the way, they have valet parking.
