                                                                  Went to Macellaio for dinner on Friday evening. Service was good, food was delicious and we had a good time. Since Exmouth market is an outdoor dinings, it can be a bit noisy at times. Overall it was nice

                                                                  Starters were promising, but both mains were cold and steak was very tough. Initial service was poor - we found out 15 mins after ordering that our choice wasn’t available, and we’d have to pay for the heavier, more expensive steak. The waiter was then rude when we politely complained about the mains being cold and tough. The manager luckily helped to resolve the issue however.

                                                                  We seemed to be the only diners on a Sunday lunchtime. Service was good but the food was a mixed bag - starters we had were panzanella salad/parma ham and melon which were very cold and seemed to have come straight from the fridge from the previous day. As a result, soggy bread (and too much of it mentioned to the server), tasteless tomatoes, everything a little sad. Main courses - steaks, were very good and tasty along with the roast potatoes and broccoli on the side. From this visit, I would say stick to the steaks as our salads were poor but on other visits we've had good pasta. Our experience suggests a lack of consistency which makes it difficult to recommend a visit unless you stick to the steak.
