My wife and I were traveling through the Kansas City metro area and we decided to stay in Overland Park Kansas. In reviewing the restaurant options I discovered there's a Louie's Wine Dive in Overland Park. We've eaten a number of times at their Des Moines restaurant and always had a pleasant experience so I made a reservation at the Overland Park location. Upon arriving we were seated right away and our server was very prompt in coming to our table. After reviewing the menu options my wife decided to order the Shrimp Tacos for her meal as she wasn't very hungry. I decided to order the Chicken Piccata after hesitating beforehand due to the fact the chicken was breaded and I don't normally order meals that are breaded. When our meals were delivered my wife indicated her tacos were fine other than being a little spicy. However, my meal was not good. The breaded chicken was overdone, dry, and tasteless. The meal included mashed potatoes which were lukewarm and Brussel sprouts which were burnt. It was not the best experience we've ever had at Louie's and I doubt we'll ever go back to the Overland Park location.

I (and several of my friends) have been loyal Louie’s customers for YEARS. We go there every single birthday to celebrate. It’s our “go to” place. But tonight changed all of that. We ordered the slider burgers and we were given cold, super thin burgers on a massive bun. I have ordered these burgers literally every time I’ve gone there in the past 8 years or so…and these were not at all what they used to be. Poor quality food AND increased prices. We also brought a cake in for celebrating the birthdays. Which we have done for YEARS. But tonight we were slapped a charge for bringing a cake in?! We have never been told that there was ever a fee, nor has anyone asked us to pay a fee in times past. Tonight..they refused to take the fee off, despite us asking where it is stated (either on their website or menu) that there is a fee. They said “it’s just a known thing”. Well…I didn’t know. When I walked in with the cake…no one told me there would be a fee. When the waitress offered to bring plates for the cake…there was no mention of a fee. Yet when they brought out tickets out…all of a sudden there is a fee. If you want to charge people for bringing in a cake (or whatever) you need to state that somewhere. Because it’s like you’re just making up random “rules” to make people pay extra. Major bummer and major let down, as this has always been our “go to” spot. Unfortunately…based on the quality of the food and the way we were treated….i cannot go back. Louie’s was amazing back in the day. So sad to see the decline.

Had a reservation. We were seated immediately. Our sever was super friendly and did an excellent job. Food was great. Drinks were great. We've been coming for years and will always come back. Love Louie's!

I have celiac disease & it’s so nice to have a separate fryer for no gluten. Also they have several delicious GF choices which is so nice. For my husband, he requests carrying a traditional IPA vs all hazie IPA’s.

My colleague and I love going to Louie’s for happy hour. Unfortunately, they have changed their happy hour menu and I doubt we will go back. Before, they had a wonderful small hamburger on the HH menu. The burger itself was thick and juicy and very tasty. Yesterday they had two sliders on the menu but the burgers were these very thin small discs that were like eating leather - no taste and looked like they came straight out of a freezer. Awful!! It was very disappointing.

Third time here and the service is great. The food was good but not great this time. Ordered the Chicken Piccata but unfortunately did not resemble this at all. We dined when it was still about 90 degrees outside. They sat us in the area in the back, up the steps. There is a ceiling fan but clearly no vents. The restaurant was so warm. We were sweating before we could finish the meal so we couldn't get out of there fast enough. The people next to us felt the same. It was disappointing as we would have enjoyed another glass of wine and possibly dessert. This is the reason for 3 stars.
