Le Café du Marché est un restaurant français situé au cœur de Smithfield. En fait, l'établissement vous propose trois restaurants. Vous le trouverez au bout de l'allée en pierres, à environ 36 mètres du Charterhouse Square et de la rue Charterhouse. Le Café est ouvert pour le dîner du lundi au vendredi (de midi à 14h30) et pour le souper du lundi au samedi (de 18h à 22h). Le Café, situé au rez-de-chaussée, est le restaurant principal. Il sert une cuisine française principalement de province. Vous trouverez à l'étage Le Grenier, un restaurant similaire qui met l'accent sur les grillades. Le Rendez-vous, la brasserie, est situé au coin de la rue Charterhouse. L'établissement est ouvert depuis près de 25 ans. Delightful ‘different’ location with bags of bistro ambiance- a regular favourite, Decent range of French style dishes/ yesterday scallops, guinea fowl , confit duck, trout, all with salad and frites alongside, Range of mainly French wines- good but less keenly priced. Enthusiastic service,

I've been coming to Cafe du Marche for over 30 years. It's probably me that's aged rather than the restaurant but whereas in the olden days, I liked noisy restaurants, I don't any more. It's fine. I always like the fish soup which is excellent, served with rouille and grated cheese (which I don't think was gruyere yesterday). I'll come again, but just probably not as frequently. Maybe it'd be good to go when it's just opening or very late lunch to avoid the noise being at a level where conversation was difficult.

We had an early (6.30) booking and by the time we left (just before 9.00 ) the level of noise was getting intolerable. Otherwise a good experience: friendly professional staff, good food and a time warp ambience

I been coming here for years and it’s always consistent in food quality, I level service and ambiance. If you want a true French brasserie experience, this is the place to go in London.
