Le Café du Marché est un restaurant français situé au cœur de Smithfield. En fait, l'établissement vous propose trois restaurants. Vous le trouverez au bout de l'allée en pierres, à environ 36 mètres du Charterhouse Square et de la rue Charterhouse. Le Café est ouvert pour le dîner du lundi au vendredi (de midi à 14h30) et pour le souper du lundi au samedi (de 18h à 22h). Le Café, situé au rez-de-chaussée, est le restaurant principal. Il sert une cuisine française principalement de province. Vous trouverez à l'étage Le Grenier, un restaurant similaire qui met l'accent sur les grillades. Le Rendez-vous, la brasserie, est situé au coin de la rue Charterhouse. L'établissement est ouvert depuis près de 25 ans. The restaurant has a very warm, relaxed ambience and friendly, efficient service. Prices are reasonable and the food is well prepared. I’m not local but if I were it would be a place to visit regularly. A good formula, like restaurants used to be.

I really enjoyed Cafe du Marche very much indeed & so did my companion, and what's more it's got real actual table clothes - Wow! Wonderful. The restaurant takes that little bit more effort with everything and it really pays off. An overall Wonderful place. It wasn't noisy either like so many other restaurants are these days. You could actually hold a conversation.

Pleasant dinner with three friends. Piano and double bass in the background added a nice ambience. Wild mushroom starter smelt and tasted great. Chicken was good although not outstanding. Cheese selection was very good although portions smaller than last time.

We love Le Cafe du Marche. If you want great food while listening to old classics played on the piano and double bass this is the place for you. Old world charm with bang up to date food and service.

Excellent good and service with a good selection of wine. Also lovely bass player with piano player thrown in making a lovely evening. Deffo go again soon

It was very nice to revisit an old favourite after quite a long time. The ambience of a French brasserie has rather been lost I fear. The menu was a bit restricted with two popular main choices unavailable “because we change the menu tomorrow” Service was attentive and very friendly. Sides were the same for every dish - fries and green leaf salad meaning only one short order cook rather than the team of chefs before. My chop was slightly overcooked ( burnt at the edges). Meal saved by the enthusiasm of the waiter and the charming live piano music. Wine very expensive in line with most central London prices. Delighted it is still going, many happy memories but a rather faded dream, sadly.
