Le Bouchon Brasserie and Hotel est un monument classé de grade II de style géorgien vieux de 300 ans, entièrement rénové afin de lui rendre sa gloire passée. La période de rénovation a permis d'allier certaines des caractéristiques d'antan de l'édifice à des meubles et à un décor de style classique qui complètent le style original de la maison. Le Bouchon Brasserie propose un mélange de cuisines française et britannique servies dans un cadre relaxant et intime. Dégustez un repas du menu à la carte ou choisissez dans la grande sélection de formules disponibles à différents moments au cours de la semaine. À côté du Bouchon, vous pourrez admirer le superbe canal de navigation Chelmer and Blackwater ouvert en 1797, qui s'étend sur 22 km depuis le bassin de Springfield de Chelmsford à l'écluse du bassin d'Heybridge, à proximité de Maldon. Tastefully decorated to create a comfortable fresh feel . Great atmosphere with top quality food and flavour . Excellent support from a knowledgeable and naturally caring team . All very enjoyable.

We chose to have food from the French Classic menu. The cost for 3 courses is £26. The food was excellent, good size portions, excellent value for money. The service, as always, was very attentive and friendly.

Overall it was a very enjoyable experience marred slightly but what seems a slightly petty attitude with regard to of all things gravy and cabbage. When ordering our food which was roast beef etc we noted that the meal was accompanied by seasonal vegetables which were stated as carrots, cauliflower and cabbage. Of the three my wife remarked that she didn’t like cauliflower and cabbage and was there an alternative and suggested perhaps some peas. This was agreed as possible however when the vegetables were brought to the table the cabbage which I like was missing substituted by the peas. This may have been a misunderstanding as we actually expected a small portion of peas added to the meal not instead of. However as we had noted that should you wish for some extra gravy there was and extra £2 charge which led us to feel it was rather petty and took the edge off a very nice meal.

Our son has been raving about Le Bouchon for a couple of years, so when we were looking for a venue to hold a lunch for my wife’s 60th birthday, we thought we’d take the plunge. Lunch today was a warm up for the main event. We decided to have the fixed price French Classics menu. Pork terrine to start, which was excellent. My wife loved her Tuna Niçoise salad and my grilled pork with sauté potatoes was very good. What really made our lunch though, was our waitress Emma. We have rarely experienced such warm and professional service. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended. Roll on November and my wife’s birthday lunch!
