Ye Olde Punchbowl Inn is certainly Ye Olde, even by the standards of British country pubs. The building has been there for at least 700 years – nobody knows exactly how long it has stood on what is now Ludlow Road – and has been a pub since 1740, serving the traveller, the public of Bridgnorth and all others who entered their doors. We were well looked after, with excellent service. The food was good, and nicely presented; we couldn’t really fault it, apart from perhaps a bit too much salt in everything, but it lacked the wow factor that would have made it special. We dined on two consecutive nights and were a bit disappointed that the ‘daily menu’ was exactly the same both nights.
