If looking for a brilliant setting right on the beach this is it. Recently re-furbished the CB is top quality for fittings and furniture, staff volume and service. The food is outstanding although I felt a shade too expensive compared with similar establishments in East Sussex.

Recommended to eat here by our Airbnb host. Did not disappoint! 1. Dog friendly 2. Great menu, limited choices but still very difficult to choose from! 3. Loved the local provenance of menu items 4. Had a really amazing experience at the Royal that had been recommended to us by friends. We had the week day fixed price evening menu which I thought represented great value for the quality of the dishes served and the variation of the menu. It was £22 for two courses and £26 for three. The taste was exceptional, the presentation excellent and the quantity was perfect. We had a side of buttered greens which was not required but added very nicely to the meal. I also really liked the layout of the seating and the decor in general of the venue. It just oozes tradition with the wood panelling and then the menu adds the contemporary aspect which balances perfectly. I would highly recommend and look forward to more visits.

Such a lovely team, couldn’t have been more helpful and we had a lovely lunch! We will be back again, absolutely lovely.

There was an odd glitch in that they hadn’t transferred my booking to their records so the table wasn’t reserved and they were very busy because of Father’s Day, which sadly caused a bit of initial brusqueness. They recovered well.
