The Crathorne Arms is a great pub in a wonderful community spirited village, lovely people, Lord Crathorne himself couldn’t be more supportive, how lucky we are.Our life has come a full circle from a town pub in Middlesbrough (well Eugene has) to the tontine (McCoys Hotel, Restaurant and Bistro) to a village pub in Crathorne, Ten Minutes from Middlesbrough.We live above the pub, our furniture and furnishings live downstairs as they can’t and won’t fit up the stairs! So the canoe has the condiments, the bookcases our books, the huge sofa with big squashy cushions to sink into, tin lanterns reflecting patterns on the ceiling, this all makes for a homely feel and that’s what we would like to create along with good wholesome food and drink.Of Course the staff, front of house and kitchen are all great, hardworking, smiley, enthusiastic young people and a joy to work with.

Le Blackfriars a été élu meilleur restaurant aux North East England Tourism Awards en 2013. Occupant un ancien couvent médiéval chargé d'histoire, fondé en 1239, le restaurant a servi de réfectoire pour les moines, ce qui en fait une des plus anciennes salles de restauration construite au Royaume-Uni. Ce restaurant de 72 places sert un menu de style britannique classique et copieux, à base de produits de saison provenant des fermes et des marchés locaux, accompagnés d'une grande carte des vins primés. Il comporte également une salle de réception pouvant accueillir 50 personnes et un atelier pour 12 personnes proposant une large gamme de plats. Le Blackfriars a récemment été élu « Meilleur dîner du dimanche à Newcastle » par les lecteurs des journaux The Observer et Metro. Il a également obtenu une récompense AA dans le classement des guides Which, Good Food Guide, Hardens et Michelin.

Choice of meat cooked more . My husband only had a bits gammon and chicken no one came back with well done or med steaks . Felt also chicken was dry. And we did ask a few times for his to be cooked bit more . He is not a lover of blood still running

Fantastic experience in general. Food was excellent. I only booked on the day but if you go for an evening meal call ahead to see if you can be seated in #1 dining room. Unfortunately we were placed in the bar. Same food but totally different experience. The dining room looked fantastic. I wish they had said we were going to be placed in the bar. Paying at the bar at the end of the meal is also rather naff.

Lovely location. We ate in the bar area. It was very pleasant and quiet for a Sunday lunchtime. Staff were charming and food was very tasty.

The afternoon tea was good value, good selection of food, scones were delicious. Staff were very attentive. Will definitely be going again
