This is where it all started – on the banks of the Rappahannock River overlooking where we grow our oysters. We like to call Merroir a “tasting room,” just so people know to expect something different. L'histoire du Yaca a commencé en 1964 à Courchevel, un petit village de campagne dans les Alpes françaises. Danièle et Gérard Bourderau ont trouvé l'idée amusante d'ouvrir un petit restaurant. À l’annonce de leur projet, tous leurs amis ont dit aux restaurateurs plein d'espoir que personne ne conduirait jamais 8 kilomètres sur une route sinueuse glacée pour souper. Danièle et Gérard hésitèrent pendant 3 mois, puis ont décidé : « yaca le faire », une contraction de l'expression française « il n’y a qu’à le faire », qui signifie « faisons-le ». Par plaisanterie, ils ont appelé le restaurant Le Yaca. Mais le nom est devenu populaire avec les clients, qui ont été amusé par le jeu de mots et ont contribué à la tradition du restaurant en inventant des « Yaca-ismes » eux-même : « yaca y aller » (allons-y). Danièle est venue aux États-Unis et a ouvert Le Yaca à Williamsburg. Daniel Abid a acheté le restaurant en 2001. Daniel a travaillé et a été formé dans des lieux prestigieux comme Le Pré Catelan et Lenôtre à Paris, à L'Amandier, chez Roger Vergé et pour couronner le tout chez Alain Ducasse.

Seafood, seafood, seafood - that is what St. Mary's County is all about. So here we are opening The Foxy Fish seafood restaurant. My restaurant experience started at the age of 14 working for my mom and dad, the original owners and operators of Bert's 50's Diner. I started as a cashier, learned the kitchen, did everything required to run the restaurant and eventually became the general manager. We intend to strive to do all of these things at The Foxy Fish. We are very excited to open The Foxy Fish and look forward to serving you!
