We were on 1526 Sansom St. for 14 years and then moved to 1300 South St. We create gourmet Afghan food that you can find in Afghanistan or here at our Philadelphia location. We have mouthwatering flavors starting from our bread to our kabobs. Our bread's recipe and technique have been passed down from the founder's great-great-grandfather, who owned an array of bakeries and managed many restaurants in Kabul. Passed through generations to our chef, who brought delicious meals to 15th and Sansom of Philadelphia. Then from 15th and Sansom to 1300 South St. We have delectable food that you fall in love with and will bring comfort to you, from our meat lovers to our vegans. We do reservations, groups, take-out, delivery, catering, waiter service, and maintain a great family environment.

REX at The Royal provides guests with transformed southern fare, a full bar, daytime cafe and curated bottle-shop housed in the historical Royal Theatre, known as a staple in the rich cultural history of the City of Philadelphia for its role as a hub for Black culture and artistry, including film-making and live music, during the 20th century. REX at The Royal, now operating out of the newly-renovated theatre, maintains key tenets of the historical site including a stage for live music performances, as well as sweeping arches and other details sustained from the original design. REX at The Royal cuisine pays homage to the great early 20th-century African-American chefs who adapted traditional southern fare to Philadelphia’s urban landscape. My husband and I have come here for so long, and wanted to have one last brunch here before they shut their doors. We have to say the staff, between front and back, are just rockstars at what they do and provide. The food is always top notch, the cocktails perfect, and the service warm and welcoming. Truly a delight any time we can spend some time with our 2 dachshunds and enjoy the outside space here. We hope you and team have much successes going forward and we hope for the next iteration will be here soon. Happy New Year Hawthorne's!

Excellent, interesting menu. Friendly, helpful service. Our only disappointment was our selected dessert being out of stock. Everything we tried was great.
