Cet ancien hall de banque à été transformé par le propriétaire Jeremy Mogford, qui en a fait le plus grand et le plus réputé des restaurants d’Oxford. Son décor est élégant et contemporain. A rural public house serving local beers, Berkshire gin and ciders, as well as a great wine selection. Bar snacks and full meals available 7 days a week. Cooking over a central grill makes for great theatrical cooking from our open-plan kitchen, overseen by Head Chef Nick Galer. Whilst a subtle Basque feel will permeate throughout, its roots are firmly founded on those of a classic English pub – so while featuring top end Basque dishes fit for a destination dinner, it also offers simple pub snacks for a light lunch… while the food may be inspired by the Basque country, the ingredients are local… and while the wines may be sourced from Iberia, the beer is very much English.The crowning glory is the sensational open kitchen, with a huge, CHARCOAL FIRED parilla grill and a BRICK OVEN as its centrepiece and all in front of the guests – very visual and very theatrical.     Nice location and ambience, it got a bit busier and noisier when more people came in. Food was very nice. A bit disappointing that several of the mains did not come with potatoes and the only choice of sides was chips or mac n cheese; mash or roast potatoes would have gone better with our choices of mains

    Sunday lunch after a lovely dog walk. The main restaurant/bar area was packed but we had a table in the back restaurant room which was otherwise empty and suited us fine. Our weary spaniel curled up on the floor. The waitress was super friendly and attentive even though we were away from the main action. The roasts - we had pork and chicken - were both just fabulous. Lots of meat and veggies and plump Yorkshire puddings piled up on the plates. I loved the pudding option of a coffee and mini-pudding which was the perfect size after the chunky main course. Altogether excellent and we will definitely be back.
