Brill meal and lovely waiter just shame you ran out of lemon tart

The staff at the Royal are always professional, knowledgeable ,friendly and helpful. They can't be faulted. We requested a window table which we got. The service was efficient, but not rushed in any way, which makes for a relaxing, enjoyable evening Our food was very good, well cooked and well presented. The halloumi frues are the best as a starter! The premises are spotlessly clean, abd tables are always cleared and cleaned promptly. The whole thing makes for a very enjoyable dining experience.

Food was amazing, do recommend the fillet steak and the salt and pepper chicken small plate. Pasta Al forno is basically a lasagne it was also lovely. The only thing I could comment on really is the service from the older gentleman, we waited about 15 mins for our drinks before we realised nobody's making them (the bartenders were stocking so clearly the check hadn't come through and it wasn't busy at all). We asked about our drinks and the manager promptly got them sorted for us quoting a technical error. Then when the same waiter brought out our food we did have to ask for the extra peppercorn sauce and he seemed confused, even though we did order it and he'd read thr order back to us. We then realised he may have forgotten to ring both our drinks and the sauce through the till. Not a big issue at all to be honest, the food really was wonderful and the service from the manager running the shift was lovely (didn't catch his name, but he's definitely a great asset to the restaurant). Nice ambiance for a celebration, and the cocktail deals are fab 👌

Great service by Bethany and one other lady whose name we did not get. We had the same main course as on our last visit - Mar y Montana tagliatelli. Fantastic meal on both occasions. Our previous visit was on 24th April 2024, when we had excellent service by Alice. We live 70 milrs away, and will always eat at Avanti whenever we visit Kirkby Lonsdale. A great restaurant.
