In the mountains of North Georgia the Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant has been welcoming guests since 1922. Restored in 2008, the hotel and restaurant offer the best of rustic elegance. From the antique heart pine walls to the locust beams on our deck, expect unique, local craftsmanship. The decor is rich with period antiques, hand-woven rugs, and local artwork.

It features a creatively prepared and presented Contemporary American menu with a Southern twist in the farm to table tradition. Fresh produce locally grown is hand selected and prepared by our Chef de Cuisine, whose entrees respect the natural flavors of high quality, humanely raised and locally harvested food. His kitchen produces cuisines from many regions including Classical French, Southern USA, and Mediterranean. Many guests describe the food at the Lake Rabun Hotel as "the best in the mountains."

We were seated. Server took drink orders. Delivered drinks. Asked if we were ready to order. The menu items that half of our party chose were unavailable. The prime rib sandwich and steak/eggs. Felt server had plenty of opportunities to let us know this info before we ordered.

Rustic restaurant with great ambiance. Well stocked bar with seasonal drink specials. Nice energetic staff. Pecan crusted trout was excellent.

Was our anniversary, had been there before but it was several years ago. The food was terrible. The sides had way too much seasoning. We could not eat the sides and the main dish was not much better. My husband never complains but he told the waitress he didn’t like it. He told me he owed me another anniversary meal. because it was so bad. I can’t remember having such a bad meal.

While staying in the hotel, we enjoyed a dinner in the restaurant. We both ordered the popular trout entree which was very good. The service was just attentive enough. For me, the ambiance of the rustic dining room was the most memorable aspect. We would dine with Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant again and recommend to those visiting beautiful Lakemont.

Each time I come to my home in Highlands, I make a point of taking a drive to Lakemont to eat at Lake Rabun Hotel. The drive is beautiful, especially at this time of year. And the destination is well worth the time it takes to drive there. I can always count on delicious food and friendly service. The hotel itself is a joy, reminiscent of gracious days gone by in elegant, rustic decor. And the cuisine is wonderful.

Lovely hotel and restaurant, but we were seated in the first room that lacks the beauty and ambiance of the other areas. Staff were very friendly, but not particularly sophisticated/professional, given the prices would have expected more. Trout was good; burger overly salty. Charged the same price for a moscow mule virgin as the alcohol version. Odd.

My mom said the trout was delicious. I had the shrimp and grits and it was so good too. Both were nice size portions. The hotel/restaurant is beautiful. A must try if you are in the area.

Really lovely meal. The steak was cooked perfectly and the trout was fun. It was a nice surprise sort of out in the middle of nowhere.

Beautiful atmosphere for special occasions. A classic gem on the lake. Food was very good but I wouldn't say excellent. Duck was a bit overdone and cocktails average. Still wouldn't hesitate to return again and again
