In the mountains of North Georgia the Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant has been welcoming guests since 1922. Restored in 2008, the hotel and restaurant offer the best of rustic elegance. From the antique heart pine walls to the locust beams on our deck, expect unique, local craftsmanship. The decor is rich with period antiques, hand-woven rugs, and local artwork.

It features a creatively prepared and presented Contemporary American menu with a Southern twist in the farm to table tradition. Fresh produce locally grown is hand selected and prepared by our Chef de Cuisine, whose entrees respect the natural flavors of high quality, humanely raised and locally harvested food. His kitchen produces cuisines from many regions including Classical French, Southern USA, and Mediterranean. Many guests describe the food at the Lake Rabun Hotel as "the best in the mountains."

                                              Overall the restaurant was as expected, set in pairing with historic mountain lodge along side Lake Rabun. The service was excellent although they seated us on outside porch which didn’t have controller air which by the time diners finished I was very uncomfortable, wish they had ask before seating!! The food was excellent, we actually both enjoyed specials for the night. I enjoyed the bison ribeye while my wife had the tortalini and both were fantastic. We followed with chocolate mouse and creme brûlée again perfect.

                                              Lovely meal in a quaint, old fashioned (in a good way) setting. Wedge salad was crisp and refreshing, with a delicious dressing. Entrees of pecan- crusted trout and bison ribeye steak - delicious. The trout was cooked perfectly. The potato AU gratin and and roasted carrots accompanying the steak were yummy! Nice wine list, good service, I’d definitely recommend.

                                              Service was slow for us; but not for the regulars. We ended up being in the restaurant for almost 2 hours. Ordered a second drink and never received it. Waited for food for an hour. No one ever said anything about the wait to us. Never received a refill on water even. Food was very good. Not worth the wait though.

                                              Overall it was pretty good but didn’t live up to the hype that I found on the internet when I was researching places to eat in the area. The food was not bad, but pretty typical and nothing super special. The website made it sound like it was elevated farm to table dishes and that wasn’t the case. Typical American dining experience but the service was great and the waitress was very sweet and attentive.

                                              What an unexpectedly delicious dinner in a beautiful restaurant with so much character and personality. I had the pecan crusted trout and it was the most delicious meal I’ve probably ever had! The kids had lobster rolls which were also delicious. My husband had shrimp and grits, and although that was ok, I know he wished he had ordered my dish. I will definitely come back here next time I’m back this way.
