Bénéficiant d'un emplacement central à côté de l'autoroute Highway 101, à San Rafael, en face du célèbre centre municipal du comté de Marin Frank Lloyd Wright, l'établissement à la gestion familiale La Toscana propose un bar-restaurant italien, dans le comté de Marin. Le restaurant La Toscana Ristorante a été ouvert en 1985 par Paolo Mori, sa femme Marilyn et Michele Quilici. Les propriétaires ont tous grandi à Lucques, en Italie. Ils ont immigré aux États-Unis à la fin des années 1950. Ils souhaitaient créer une atmosphère évoquant leur pays, un endroit où les habitants se rassemblent pour partager un repas, retrouver des amis ou de la famille et célébrer ces moments autour d'un bon plat et de vin, à l'instar de toutes les familles italiennes. Le chef et copropriétaire Giovanni Racanello a rejoint La Toscana en 1986. Laura Mori Riella, la fille Paolo et de Marilyn ainsi que Michael Mori, leur plus jeune fils, ont intégré l'équipe de La Toscana en 1992 et 2002, respectivement. Paolo aimait que les gens se sentent les bienvenus. Comme tous les Mori, il appréciait sa cuisine et le vin et aimait voir les autres faire de même. C'est cette tradition qui fait la fierté de La Toscana.

We loved our dinner! Our only complaint was the 80s music playing at a very high volume. It was distracting from the delicious food. We loved everything about our meal.

My first time at this restaurant. I am very picky when it comes to Italian food and I felt I hit a homerun with "La Toscana". Place is well located, very centric to San Rafael with good parking space. I arrive there at a peek hour and it took me 15 seconds to find parking inside the restaurants parking lot. More importantly both the service and the food were superb! I wished I remembered the waiters name as I would have given him kudos here. The pappardelle with wild boar is a must try, please. The restaurant is big enough to fit good sized groups and it also has a large bar area with TV's. Try it, you won't regret it!

The risotto was delicious! The atmosphere was lovely and the noise level was low, so we could have a good conversation.

Our experience was PERFECTION. We were greeted warmly by Laura, and instantly attended to with water and delicious, warm bread and butter. We were never rushed, but the service was outstanding. Our meals were SOOOO delicious. I ordered the spinach salad with red onions, mushrooms. I added three grilled prawns and avocado. What an outstanding meal! It was healthy, fresh, and soooo yummy. My friend has the San Vincenzo salad, which she loved. We were able to have a long visit over coffee and dessert in a comfortable environment. The ambience is so lovely. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, but it was not too loud nor too quiet. To top it off, Laura picked up that it was my birthday and had a yummy dessert sent to our table to go with our coffee. The food and service are consistently outstanding. I had lunch here last week with a group, and everyone was so delighted.

Service was a little off today (staff wasn’t communicating with each other) and the Petrale soul special was disappointing due to the dryness of the fish. The filet was quite good.

Great location and vibe at the restaurant with great service and friendly staff. The food is so-so, but the ambience makes up for it and then some.

We had horrible service. Too many moments in the meal to want to return. Also the spaghetti carbonara was more like fettuccine Alfredo. While tasty, not as it should be; light not thick with cream sauce. Mojito was tasteless. No mint at all or essence of jalapeño. Plus no alcohol detected (watered down).

Toscana is our go-to when in San Rafael for good friendly service, ambiance, and delizioso Italian cuisine! It’s been around for nearly 50 yrs, so they must be doing something right! For enjoying a casual dinner or special event, Toscana provides the perfect experience.
