La perle du quartier

Le restaurant La Masseria est inspiré des anciennes fermes fortifiées appelées "Masseria" dans la région des Pouilles en Italie. Le chef exécutif et co-propriétaire Pino Coladonato a grandi dans une ferme de la région des Pouilles. Parce qu'il était obligé de manger ce qui était disponible et qu'il s'est vite lassé de manger de la purée de haricots, il a décidé de prendre les choses en main et d'être créatif en utilisant les mêmes ingrédients. Même avec la multitude d'ingrédients qu'il a à portée de main, les fèves, les pois chiches et les lentilles restent un élément de base de ses plats. La décoratrice d'intérieur Libby Langdon a créé une atmosphère chaleureuse et accueillante, rustique et décontractée, avec tout plein de charme du vieux monde. De grands bougeoirs en fer fabriqués sur mesure à partir de portails en fer forgé antiques ponctuent les murs, tandis que des outils agricoles d'époque exposés de façon artistique avec diverses photographies italiennes authentiques accentuent le côté fermier. La carte des vins, qui compte 250 bouteilles, représente toutes les régions d'Italie et comporte quelques-unes des meilleures bouteilles américaines et du reste du monde.

The food was really delicious, our server was knowledgeable and attentive, the lighting was low and perfect and the noise level was perfect, buzzy but you could easily talk and be heard at your table. We’ll return the next time we are at the theater.

The food was delicious. The pasta with the cherry tomato sauce was outstanding as was the salmon and the veal. Will definitely be going back.

I tried to get reservations when I was in NYC in April. Fortunately I was able to get into this incredible restaurant on my September trip. It was incredible in all ways. From the Eggplant Parmesan appetizer which surpassed my recipe, the wine, the service, the atmosphere, everything was fabulous. We ordered scallopini and clam pasta and they were wonderful. I can’t wait to get back to NYC. I will make sure to have my reservations early. This restaurant gave two old people a beautiful dining experience. Thank you.

My husband and I started off with drinks at the bar because we had gotten there before the rest of our party. Alexander at the bar was absolutely delightful and made me one of his specialties. This most delicious peach bliss. We went into the dining room and had a lovely dinner. All the food was delicious. I had the fish specialty my husband and his brother had a chicken and sausage dish and my in-laws each had pasta dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We followed dinner with dessert and coffee. Our reservation was for 5 o’clock. We had theater tickets for seven. They got us out in plenty of time to walk over to the theater without feeling rushed. The service was excellent.

Expensive but worth it for a special experience in the theater district. Extensive menu and wine by the glass choices.

What an enjoyable find. We went to see a Broadway show. It starts at 8:00p and ended late, and usually it's a problem to find a place to eat that's quiet, nice and serves good food. We sat at the bar. Our bartender was great. Alexander was his name. He helped navigate a menu of good wine and great food. When we couldn't decide on the pasta, he served us two half portions. Both were excellent and reminded us of our trip to Italy a couple weeks ago. This will be our regular after-show stop for dinner.

The maitre de, the wait staff and everyone associated with the service were all friendly and attentive. And the food was as you would expect from this restaurant. A wonderful dining experience.
