Booked a reservation for my Wife and I’s anniversary. We were sat by the hostess and that’s the last interaction I had with any one at the restaurant. Sat for all good 30 minutes while everyone around us was being served. We even made eye contact with the waiter multiple times and were ignored. I paid my $10 to the mandatory valet so he could go grab my car that was 10 feet away and we left and went to Parc downtown which is always great.

I have been to LDV many times and was disappointed on this last visit. My hunch is they had an off night. Food was very slow coming out of the kitchen. Ordered arancini with mushrooms and got arancini with spinach. The two pasta courses we ordered were fine but the veal was tough as shoe leather. It was not properly pounded flat and therefore was not tender like veal should be. On the upside the place is properly staffed and they are attentive

We had a bad experience at LDV. I booked a reservation for my birthday based on a positive past meal and the posted dress code on the website. First, we’re seated next to a guy in a T-shirt and gym shorts. Our cocktail order takes forever, and the pours were skimpy. When the bill came my vodka on the rocks cost $22.50. The Caesar salad, no longer served table side, was drenched in dressing and inedible. I had the lobster ravioli, which was good, but my wife’s veal scallopini was as tough as shoe leather. How is that even possible? The potatoes looked like week old leftovers, and the asparagus was overcooked. She barely touched it. We left with the half bottle of wine we couldn’t finish. Oh, and no mention or acknowledgement of my birthday, which was noted in our online reservation.

Food, service, and new decor was great, only issue was the noise level was too loud, and it was quite difficult to hear or carry on a conversation.

The food was mediocre and the portion size not commensurate with the grossly increased prices. Service was fine but the ambiance left something to be desired. We will not go there again.

Arrived shortly prior to a Labor Day reservation to make sure the restaurant was open. Saw patrons inside but no host. Was seated by staff who did not appear to be Front of House and advised us to "sit wherever" we liked. Once actual waitstaff finally arrived we were advised that the brunch menu was not being served (this was fair - it was Monday even though it was a holiday and brunch was clearly stated as being served Saturday-Sunday) and that they were out of steak and veal. At an Italian restaurant. This after a significant wait before being approached by anyone who appeared to be working that day. This couldn't have been a case of not being open as there were other patrons present. La Dolce Vita used to be a Detroit staple and hidden gem. A part of Detroit for real Detroiters. Maybe I caught them on an off day but a brunch menu that has six different dishes containing poached eggs tells me that maybe it's best days are behind it. The interior decor -- perhaps in the middle of a renovation? -- also suggests much more disused backroom of a laundromat than once-stylish bistro. Farewell, La Dolce Vita. My memories are fond.

We managed to get sameday reservations to celebrate our 11th Wedding Anniversary after we were offered unexpected childcare. I should've taken the open reservations as a sign to steer clear. However, we arrived at a reservation time, the host tells us they are extremely busy and moving a bit slow, but as I looked around the inside dining was about 50% empty and the outdoor dining was 60% empty, so I knew that they were obviously understaffed. We get seated rather quickly outside and a party of 8 and 3 are seated directly after us. Both tables had server interactions before we did, which was another red flag, because there's no communication between the seating hostess and the wait staff. After 10 minutes of sitting and watching the other 2 parties be served bread and water, our server finally looks like he has happened upon our table, as if by accident. WE'RE going to try to make it work so my wife and I just order everything at once (cocktails, salads, apps and entrees), hoping it would alleviate some of the stress on our server (who obviously had indoor and outdoor tables to service, which is crazy). During the down time, as we sipped our water and waited for maybe our cocktails or some bread (which we never received), we noticed the host clearing a long-dirtied table behind us that had yet to be bussed. Once she cleared the table and loaded up the tray, none of the 3 employees even helped her open the door and get back into the restaurant. My wife literally had to get up and help the host by opening the door for her, while her coworkers watched. Another 10 minutes passed, and our server reappeared (still with no bread or cocktail, or even an "everything is on the way, sorry for the delay") and goes over to assist another table who is obviously upset with the service they've already received and then disappears back into the restaurant without a word to us. We knew we were on a sinking ship, so we asked someone to take our picture in the beautiful garden and left

The experience was tainted by the fact that the service was so incredibly poor. We (table of 2) sat for an hour waiting for our cocktail. Only after some substantial complaining did we get our drinks. My coctail was hastily made and I think was simply pure alcohol. Tables next to us received substantially better service. I was looking forward to the veal and they were all out. Nonetheless, my salmon was well cooked and delicious. My husband's pasta dish was dry, tastless, and sauceless. it was such a huge disappointment. On the positive side, we sat outside and the area was beautiful!

Really disappointed. We’ve been coming here for years. Not what it used to be. Took almost 30 minutes to have our drink order taken. We were at the brunch, one in our group didn’t receive her coffee until the meal was over. She wanted decaf. Food was good but service was poor. So sorry, used to be nice.
