A trip to conventions, sports, concerts in L.A. isn't complete without a visit to Katsuya. The food is is always good and the staff is really cool. Regular dining or sitting at the bar before/after the game - it's never been a bad time for us. Make reservations and get the crispy rice.

I was extremely disappointed with our recent dining experience at Katsuya. Our server was unfamiliar with the menu, unable to pronounce basic items, brought us an incorrect bottle of sake without explanation and forgot our beers. His service was slow and the kitchen appeared disorganized — silly errors, forgetfulness and the food arrived intermittently without any clarification or explanation. It would have been nice to know what we were eating. Considering the high price tag of $500 for my family of four, this experience was unacceptable. I suggest you to improve your staff's training and service standards. *Note - we were also celebrating a birthday, details were put on the reservation — not one person addressed this.

Food mediocre at best, way over priced for what they are serving. To top it off we went on a Tuesday evening at 8pm, literally for parties and it took 50 minutes to get our food let alone 25 minutes for our bevs.

We came in last night and the restaurant was completely empty, which is not an issue and actually a pretty good vibe and atmosphere. But the moment we entered we literally felt like we were bothering everyone by even being here. We ordered a lot of food and some drinks but the whole staff was not even nice to us. It was my birthday, and it really didn’t feel like a birthday. I’m so disappointed. As a server myself I really didn’t expect that from such a restaurant. I canceled my reservations at other places just to go to this place and it pretty much ruined our night. All of us felt like the service was just bad, and we felt like we were not welcomed. When we arrived we were sat at a huge table where we couldn’t even talk to each other and had to find a better table ourselves. It’s pretty sad as a birthday is once a year and the experience was really not good. The food was extremely good though. 5 stars to the kitchen. But the overall experience was a disaster. We ordered food — which they told us were tiny portions so we ordered too much — and that’s the only moments we saw our servers. They were not even nice or anything. We will go back to the Hollywood location but not this one. I’m so sad that my birthday night was literally ruined by this. We felt we had to leave the moment we entered the restaurant.

Baked crab roll, the rock shrimp roll, and the crispy rice were amazing. Misael N our waiter was great and brought us a spicy soy sauce that was great addition to our dinner.

We often come down to this restaurant before an event. It’s one of my favourites! However, this time, it didn’t live up to our expectations. We arrived 1.5 hours before our event. The patio had a few tables on it and the inside seemed typical. We opted to sit outside and it took a long time to even get water, when our server finally took our order he asked if we were needing to be out of there for an event and we said yes, needed to leave at 720pm. He said I’ll put everything in now as our kitchen is quite backed up. The appetizers arrived but then no mains. He came by and said ‘your order is next up’ so we said ok, we can wait (that was around 7pm), by 725 nothing had shown up so we had to grab our bill and go. We JUST made it to our event. I have no problem with waiting for great food (and it always is) but something just seemed ‘off’ that night. We will give them another chance as it’s our ‘go to’ before LA LIVE events.
