SPIRITED DINING AND DRINKS IN SANTA FE

In 1882, Abraham Staab, a European immigrant who became one of Santa Fe’s most prosperous merchants, built a Victorian mansion on property that now belongs to La Posada. Abraham’s elegant wife, Julia, entertained local society and visiting dignitaries in incomparable style. Legend has it that Julia so loved her home that she has never left it.

Today, we celebrate Julia Staab as our muse and honor her name and legendary hospitality with the opening of Julia, A Spirited Restaurant & Bar. The restaurant features innovative, locally sourced dishes as well as an extensive selection of fine wines and spirits.

The problem with eating at this restaurant was that they would not answer their phone for over 1 1/2 days .. We chose this restaurant because we were celebrating my sister‘s 90th birthday. We wanted to find out if we could bring a bottle of expensive champagne into the restaurant. They didn’t answer their phone so we chose to go ahead and buy the champagne only to find out. It’s against New Mexico law to bring a bottle into a restaurant and pay a corkage fee so that’s needless to say spoiled our entire evening. There was no apology given there was noacknowledgment of any problem from the restaurant therefore I would never eat here again thank you

The dining room was not open. We were told there was only one wait person out on the patio so we chose to sit in the bar. Our waitress was the bartender. She was delightful. The only problem we had was trying to reach the restaurant by phone. The hours on Google were different from what the hours actually are. And the menu on line was an old one with many things no longer available.

Was a great setting. Not busy especially during such a busy weekend. Very limited menu. Pozole was great. Meat and cheese platter was great. Most meals were great except mine risotto was crunchy and Osso Bucco was cold.

Always love visiting Julia and La Posada when we are in Santa Fe! The patio is really nice, quiet and a beautiful atmosphere! Great martinis!

The branzino was very dry, not as good as hoped for. The beet salad was some arugula and canned beets, very surprising that it didn't include homemade pickled beets. Canned is really not what one would expect in a nice restaurant. Our server was wonderful!

We recall this spot under prior management as a lively “go to” with some casual entertainment (Spanish guitar or native flute). A bit too quiet and not festive. Food and service was very good.
