    The only negative was we requested seating in the main dining room our table was in the enclosed patio.

    My friend and I had a fabulous evening overall. The only negatives were that they do not have anchovies for the Cesar salad (only in the dressing which was excellent, but we like anchovies on top also and the server said they don't have any to spare) oh and they were out of chocolate gelato. Minor inconvenience. Looking forward to going back. Very nice ambiance. Server was delightful..

    John Ash has been our go-to restaurant for special occasions. The service is excellent and the food is high quality; however, recently we have noticed significant changes in value that have given us pause, that is, smaller portions and higher prices. The wine list is exceptional but why are prices so high in the middle of wine country where there is an abundance of good wines? The ambience is wonderful, food is excellent, service is great, but as value declines so will our attendance.

    We have been eating at John ash for decades. The ambience last night was far below the usual we have experienced. We changed tables because a large drink and very loud group seated next to us made talking impossible. Unfortunately the relocation to another room did not help because there was another roaring, clearly intoxicated group at the next table. Then another table not immediately adjacent to us got very loud. The food was great. Our servers was great. The experience, our last before moving away after nearly 40 years here, was disappointing

    Sorry but not worth the price AT ALL. The Christmas ambiance was nice but the food was so disappointing. To start the menu is incredibly limited. My daughter and husband had the steak which was average at best and definitely NIOT worth the $50 price tag. I had the chicken breast which was pretty good. For 3 dinners, 2 appetizers and 2 glasses of wine the bill was well over $300. I'm sorry but there are countless other choices in and around the area that have far better food for much lower the cost. We won't be going back.

    Everything was excellent, until the bill came. A back of house service charge of 3% was added. Just add the cost to the food so it’s clear from the start!

    Very disappointing experience for $300. Slow service. Lack of attention to detail. Water was filled up once in 2.5 hours. I guess they are trying to get by on the John Ash name but this was an over priced generic experience in Sonoma County. There’s much better options for quality to value all over Sonoma County. Boo John Ash.

    I had a wonderful dining experience with a friend at John Ash on Dec 4, 2024. Firstly, the entire property is decorated beautifully for the holidays, which is one of the reasons we chose the venue. Our cocktails (espresso martinis) were fantastic as were the oysters we had for appetizers. The Caesar salad was lovely and a generous portion (we could have split one), and the mussels and fries were outstanding. We split the avocado chocolate mousse for dessert, which was also fantastic! Our server Alan was incredible - he knew we were attending a show at Luther Burbank Center and kept us on track with timing. We literally walked out of John Ash at 7:40pm and were in our seats at LBC at 8:00pm. I love John Ash & Co.!

    John Ash has been a staple in our family & friend’s visit to Santa Rosa. The restaurant is intimate, romantic, & timeless. The old-style half round booths on the entry level are old world style dining. The lighting & ambiance is warm with high ceilings. Very easy to have conversations without having to yell and not a noisy restaurant. On cold nights, you can still dine outdoors in the glass enclosed patio with warm heaters. Truly still an icon after many years. All the dishes are excellent, the lamb & short ribs superb.
