Stone Crab

Fresh stone crabs are found in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. They are hand harvested, one claw at a time, and thrown back to the sea. Joe Weiss, and his wife Jennie, discovered this unknown delicacy in the early 1920s, and soon after, began serving them at their restaurant in Miami Beach. Food was great!! They placed us in a wonderful booth for our anniversary - thank you!! Waiter was not very energetic and seemed in a rush all the time - the bus person clearing was more of a positive for us - he was sweet and tried hard.

Every year since 2017, we have celebrated Sharon's Birthday at Joe's. Always the BEST. Waiter, Patrick (one of three 10 year waiters), could not have been better. We always look forward to our times at Joe's. We will be back! Jon & Sharon

Excellent service and the food is very good. I had the ahi tuna steak. The coconut cream pie is the best around but I heartily recommend that there needs to be more pudding as the cream overwhelms the pie. Otherwise, going to Joe’s is a special treat for any occasion.

This was not our visit to a Joe's Seafood... but our first in our hometown of DC. We certainly prefer some of the other locations we have been to over this one. The space is beautiful and you feel like you are in an upscale establishment. We were there to celebrate an occasion and were looking forward to it. I ordered the tuna steak and felt that this was not a piece of fresh fish, but a frozen filet. My partner ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and painstakingly asked the server what was in the stuffing as he does not like vegetables. The waiter listed all of the ingredients which we appreciated. However, when the dish came out festooned with diced tomatoes and parsley all over the shrimp and we voiced our displeasure, he snapped back and let us know that we had only asked about the stuffing. It made the situation very awkward. We did decide to ask for him to send it back after my partner tasted it and could not get past the decorations which had touched the food. He enjoyed his replacement fish and chips immensely and would order it again. At the end we asked for a military discount and was told that it was not offered, in spite of the fact that we have gotten it at other locations. We were told that it was offered in the DC location only for those in uniform. All in all - we were a bit sad about our experience. We are taking a trip to Chicago where we have had excellent experiences, and looking forward to that meal and service.
