Everything was fine, except that our coffee was served in little plastic Coffeemate capsules. Easily fixable.

The shrimp tempura (which included several tempura onion rings) was generous of portion and tasty. The seared ahi was just OK. The (cold) sushi rice with it was all right, but the huge mound of overdressed cabbage slaw was too much in quantity and not great-tasting. Not much tuna for the price, although the tuna was of very good quality.

The service and food are always top notch. We always eat here before the play at La Jolla Theated.

We sat at the bar in James' Place it was amazing! Katy was our bartender and she was so fun! She made us great drinks and her recommendations for dinner was really good. Please send her our thanks!! Looking forward to seeing her again. Sincerely, Mary Lou Cassell

food way overpriced and not good. Veges were ‘on the edge’, fish was very disappointing and even sorbet had big chunks of ice in it. We won’t be returning.

Perfect dinner before the play. Chilled wine glasses are lovely. And the color changing bar is fun.

Very convenient to the Playhouse. Previous visit was fair with slow service. This time service was most attentive due to half empty. However the food was mediocre at best. Never seen chunks of Parmesan on calamari. When finished plate was covered in breading. Sea bass was tiny and tasteless. Don’t plan on returning.

We used to love James’ Place before the theatre but the quality has gone down hill unfortunately.
