As always outstanding. It’s the first place we go when we get back in town. Edgar the bar manager is definitely an asset to Trani’s. We generally only get the New Style Calamari and a salad to share but everything is always delicious!

Everything was excellent! My mother who is 99 years young loved the short rib dish so much she order a second one to take home.

The live music was too loud for me! Patrons almost had to shout to hear each other talk at dinner. Might just be me😉

We normally love everything about J Traini’s. On this visit, we began by mentioning the flatware appeared dirty and server ignored it. We wiped it down with water and napkins. Our water glasses were half filled but the water bottle was never delivered - we requested it and got a strange facial response from server when it was dropped off; our second round of drinks was forgotten and then it was wrong - one margarita had no salt and both were missing the lime. Our ‘doggy bag’ leftovers were MIA for around 10 minutes. We informed the hostess we likely won’t want them for fear they were now being rescued from a trash bin… (half joking)… our server finally went to find the food (steak & potates) and discovered they were thrown away. The “newly cooked" facsimile replacement was brought out (I ordered medium-rare steak and now received it medium-well) which solidified our suspicion it was taken from the trash and recooked. A very ODD dinner experience for certain.

We had been looking to dining at J Trani's for a long time. We love the family history and the fact they have been in business for so long. Kudos. But we found the place way to loud for our liking even though the clientele is mostly middle aged, like us. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered wine which came very quickly. The basket of breads and salted butter was a great touch. We ordered the new style calamari which is great and Rigatoni with beef ragu and a pork chop parmesan. A food runner brought us within minutes ( too fast to be honest) what seemed like our main course order and we had wanted the calamari first as an appetizer and our nice waiter had clearly understood that. We started digging into the delicious calamari, hoping our waiter would come by soon so we could tell him our disappointment while our main course was getting cold. He came and had noticed the error and took the main dished away as they were for another table. So now we had to wait a while for our main courses to come. The pork chop was huge but delicious. Could have been 1/2 the size and $10 cheaper really. Took half home. The Rigatoni were very salty and my wife barely touched them. We took them home and re-purposed them. So overall, disappointed and will not return. We prefer Trani's dockside by far. Most tables had "to go" boxes. Why? Portions are too big. Make the main courses smaller and cheaper and we'll have room for desert and the restaurant will make more money, save on the expense of the boxes. The check might be a little higher with desert but it will be a more satisfactory meal and the waiters will make more tip. This just baffles me and this is why we go out less and less.... And some restaurants end up closing because they lose clientele. Hope J Trani's reads this. We wish them all the best though.

Really sincere old school spot. Great ambiance, cozy and the food was really good. They make their own pasta which is fab and the swordfish milanase was really yummy and unique. Service was great. We’d definitely go back!
