Dans le passé, Josef Sheekey faisait les marchés avec son stand de fruits de mer avant d'ouvrir un bar à huîtres sur St Martin's Court en 1896. Le restaurant a été rénové en 1998 pour renouer avec son glorieux passé, ses quatre chambres communicantes décorées avec des portraits originaux d'acteurs du 20ème siècle qui reflètent son rôle central dans le monde du théâtre. Acteurs comme spectateurs affluent ici pour les fruits de mer d'une fraîcheur immaculée et parfaitement préparés.

Excellent as always. Starter, main course and drinks for £80. Faultless service, delicious food and - by restaurant standards - a reasonable price.

I lovely dinner before the theatre with friends. Great selection of fish and seafood dishes. Strong wine list. Great service. Will be back

Dined at the bar which was a good ambiance but the service was lacking ; had to keep asking for drinks , serve the water etc despite servers chatting in the corner. Food was good.

We had a great pre theatre meal Withey really well cooked Ray. Service and ambience was great.

We love this restaurant but the service was lacking this evening. No plates, wrong cutlery and empty glasses. We didn’t pay the service and the manager was very gracious. Real shame as it was a rare evening off for us with grandparents babysitting.

As usual, all of the dishes were flawlessly executed and absolutely delicious. However, they really let themselves down on the service side this time. It was not up to the usual standard. It is tricky coming in mid afternoon; they didn’t have a clear service plan and there was no single person looking after us. There was one person and then she went on a break and then another person and then he went on a break and then a third person came along…. It felt chaotic and wine glasses were not topped up, orders were not taken timely. A standard lunch took almost three hours to complete. To their credit, eventually toward the end a nice gentleman asked how we were getting along and when we gave him this feedback they bent over backward to apologise and try to make it right. I do love it there and will forgive this lapse.
