Dans le passé, Josef Sheekey faisait les marchés avec son stand de fruits de mer avant d'ouvrir un bar à huîtres sur St Martin's Court en 1896. Le restaurant a été rénové en 1998 pour renouer avec son glorieux passé, ses quatre chambres communicantes décorées avec des portraits originaux d'acteurs du 20ème siècle qui reflètent son rôle central dans le monde du théâtre. Acteurs comme spectateurs affluent ici pour les fruits de mer d'une fraîcheur immaculée et parfaitement préparés.

The overall experience was good however there were a few disappointing points from service from more junior staff that need to be addressed. This included very late delivery of accompaniments to the meal such as sauces , clearing of table over guests still eating , not removing food from previous course . All training issues . Food was very good but if service not quite right it can detract from the overall experience

I always order the sterling Lobster Thermidor. It doesn't get better. (Though the daily special, thick-cut halibut, was tempting too.) Also good fines de claire oysters. Wine list is sage; had a very reasonably priced bottle of white Pernand-Vergelesses, really went well with the lobster. A trip to London must call for a visit to J Sheekey!

Amazing as always. A london staple for a reason. Went for my birthday (again) and the service is just incredible as is the food. Can't fault it. Incredible every time, looking forward to next time already.

We ate at the bar, the ambience was great, staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The food was good and the wine was excellent. Lovely evening. My dinner companion was not to keen to come but is a convert now.

I recently visited J.Sheekey for the first time and was absolutely blown away by the experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was top-class—attentive, friendly, and incredibly professional. The seafood was simply outstanding—everything was beautifully prepared, with fresh, delicate flavours in every bite. I particularly loved the Plateau de Fruits de Mer, which featured perfectly presented oysters, dressed crab, Atlantic prawns, mussels, clams, ceviche, cockles, whelks, and king prawns—it was a true highlight. Although J.Sheekey may not be as trendy as it’s Mayfair sister restaurant, Sexy Fish, I found the experience here far more enjoyable and sophisticated. The relaxed yet refined atmosphere, coupled with impeccable service and exceptional food, made for an unforgettable evening. The wine list was equally impressive, with a fantastic selection that paired wonderfully with the dishes. For a first-time diner, J.Sheekey exceeded all expectations, and I can’t wait to return. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a memorable seafood experience!
