Le J. Gilbert’s est un steakhouse chic et décontracté servant du bœuf maturé de qualité cuit sur un grill au feu de bois de mesquite. Vous dégusterez différentes pièces de steak, des fruits de mer frais (notamment des gâteaux de crabe primés) et d'autres mets faits maison comme des frites au fromage bleu Maytag et des velours au chocolat. Vous savourerez votre festin dans une atmosphère chaleureuse arborant du bois précieux et de la brique sous un éclairage tamisé. Vous pourrez profiter d'une table au calme ou organiser une grande fête.     J gilberts is still a great place to get a meal but if you been going for a long time - old expectations are just not met anymore, except for our server Kim who has taken care us for years!! Menu is still pretty similar, but steaks are prepared differently, I believe they got rid of the pecan they used to cook over. Overall atmosphere is busy and hustle bustle and no real feeling that each and every visitor is special like you used to get. for example, we have been at least 1/2 dozen times since it was taken over by Landry's, probably more, and we don't know a single person's name on the team outside our server. Dan, Ali, Carl, Kim, Joe, Richie, and others were like extended family. Kim is all that remains, and while she always makes it special - it is not the same. If I am speaking to people considering it for the first time - It's a good place. seating is a bit more private than say an Ocean Club or Hyde Park, food and options are pretty good (not up to par with the two aforementioned) but pricing is more reasonable. Lobster meal, Scallops, appetizer, desert and 3 drinks and was $150. Similar would be $225 at those others.

    It’s been one of our favorite places for years, but I think they forgot how to cook a steak. Ordered it medium, the filet was charred on the outside and raw in the middle. Not sure we’ll be going back.

    Sadly, our dining experience was interrupted by 20 minutes of the fire alarm shrill while we waited for the fire department to arrive to deactivate the alarm. It definitely impacted the quality of experience we intended to have. On the positive side, the service was very good and the food was very good quality.

    We love J Gilbert’s but was disappointed in the service, our waiter was as if it was his 1st day on the job… we had to repeatedly ask for water, bread, drinks, etc… service was extremely slow but we were not in a rush but we did sit for atleast 15 mins without anyone acknowledging us and when he did, he said he’d be with us shortly so another 10 mins or so before taking our drink order… etc. Again, we were not in a hurry BUT definitely not what we are accustomed to at J.Gilbert’s.

    Since it was the Christmas season and a special occasion for me, I ordered the lobster Thermidor. They advertised this dinner in an email earlier in the week. It been several years since I had lobster Thermidor. I looked forward to it. What arrived at the table, I am sorry to say, could never resemble lobster Thermidor. The sauce (?) consisted of small chopped up pieces lobster in a light cream having no flavor. It was placed on top of my 8 ounce fillet. Very disappointing. My crab bisque was great, as always. My 8 ounce fillet again was great, as always. My desert was the chocolate velvet cake with a side of ice cream which I would always recommend. This restaurant is my best steak place in Columbus and I would always recommend it, just stay away from their “specials”, they are not special. Rich

    One of the worst experiences I have ever had. We were seated 40 minutes after our reservation time, and with out much of a waiting area it was either wait arm to arm with strangers or outside in the cold. Also, the fire alarm was going off throughout the entirety of our meal. Food was good but I did not pay that much money to listen to the fire alarm. Nothing was done to compensate for the terrible time.

    We had a good experience. I selected through open table that we were celebrating an anniversary and they decorated the table ahead of time, which we thought was very cute! The steaks were cooked well and the food was tasty. We recommend.
