Le J. Gilbert's est un steakhouse chic et décontracté servant du bœuf faisandé cuit sur un gril au feu de bois de mesquite. Vous pourrez y savourer différents morceaux de steak, des fruits de mer frais (notamment des gâteaux de crabe récompensés) et d'autres mets maisons comme des frites au fromage bleu Maytag et des velours au chocolat. Vous apprécierez votre repas au coin du feu dans une atmosphère chaleureuse comprenant du bois précieux, de la brique et un éclairage tamisé. Excellent service! Food was good. Crab cakes and pork chop were excellent. But, the coconut layer cake was a little disappointing.

Sooooo, we shared the crab bisque and crab cake to start, both were fantastic. The bisque is so rich, silky and delicious. The crab cakes with the pineapple salsa with either sauce is hands down one of the best appetizers. She ordered the lobster tail and couldn’t have been more pleased. I had the prime rib w baked potato and it was prepared perfectly. Kudos to the chef’s and wait staff. Great experience and I loved the old fashion I had w dinner. Only issue is that she will expect this for every birthday dinner.

We usually love J. Gilbert’s, but lackluster service really detracted from our experience tonight. There used to be a whiskey list, but apparently not anymore - I’d expect one at a restaurant of this caliber. Our waiter gave us some wrong information when we initially ordered but then did come back later to correct and allow a change. When the food arrived though, there were some things he just forgot. The food runner was very nice about correcting that. After that, we barely saw the waiter. That was a problem because our water glasses never were refilled. When our waiter came to remove plates, he didn’t ask if we wanted another drink nor did he notice the empty water glasses. He then brought the prix fixe dessert, again with something missing, and turned and left quickly enough that we couldn’t ask for it to be corrected. Then he abruptly left the bill without asking if we wanted anything else or even if we were ready for the check. The whole meal felt impersonal and rushed. Hopefully this was just an isolated incident.

We just moved here from Dallas, Texas. We celebrated our brother-in-law‘s birthday at your restaurant . The waitress took my order - a glass of champagne but I was given a different champagne than I ordered. I ordered a dry champagne and got a sweet one, but after a conversation where she said I was incorrect - she came back saying I was right- The champagne I ordered they happened to not have and gave me a different one. Yes it was sweet. We corrected that and then it all was good. Our food was absolutely delicious -served warm -the steaks were as good as what we get in Dallas yes -at very high in steakhouses . The only downside to the whole evening was the music was too loud. It was hard for us to visit at a normal speaking level…which really puts a damper on such a lovely evening & restaurant with such great food. We will return- the evening was an over all great experience!

I noticed that the portions have been adjusted ( smaller bread offering, wedge salad size) but increase in price. My wife and are loyal customers for special occasions , ect and in past - our bill for the special Prixe including wine and beer choices (wife does not order drinks) usually about with tip $75 to 80 per person or about $145- to 155 total Our recent visit total was $170.00 or 85,00 per person. We tip about 20 to 22% . The above includes tip. Our last vist was about 6 to 8 months ago and usually visit about 2 to 3 times per year. I realize that prices need to increase and but hopfully try to keep your standards of your past menu even if you require to increase prices due to food cost. We favor the choices for Prix ( choice of salad, entre with extras plus a dessert. Priced fairly and we leave the restaunt totally satisfied and we feel that we have had a special evening. We will continue to visit J Gilberts in OP Kansas regardless but this is just for your information. Your service is consistently great and we apreciate your associates who are knowledgeble and considertate of our time when we dine. Over the years, we have only had one average assocaite to serve us.

We’ve been coming here for my husbands birthday for 5 years. My husband says they have the best steak out of all steakhouses in town! I always get the pork chop because I absolutely love it! Everything about them is wonderful from the food, to the service and the ambiance. We’ll be back next year I’m sure!!
