Le J. Gilbert's est un steakhouse chic et décontracté servant du bœuf faisandé cuit sur un gril au feu de bois de mesquite. Vous pourrez y savourer différents morceaux de steak, des fruits de mer frais (notamment des gâteaux de crabe récompensés) et d'autres mets maisons comme des frites au fromage bleu Maytag et des velours au chocolat. Vous apprécierez votre repas au coin du feu dans une atmosphère chaleureuse comprenant du bois précieux, de la brique et un éclairage tamisé. The food was excellent, as usual. The service was exceptional. Our waiter easily corrected a mistake we made in our order, and was able to adjust an air conditioner to make us more comfortable.

Service with Dakota was outstanding and food was fabulous; however, the noise level was really loud right next to our table. I guess we didn’t realize that when people are playing that kind of money for an evening out in a nice restaurant they’re going to act like they are in a sports bar. It was so loud that my companion and I had to yell at each other across the table to be heard. Maybe a weeknight would’ve been quieter?

Our waiter was slow and our food was cold and they set us in a room with absolutely no ambience! This was the second time we’ve been to J Gilbert’s and the food was cold and overcooked.

My dinner companions were satisfied with the food and service. I was dissatisfied. In my reservation request, I asked for a table vs. booth. We were seated in a booth. It took more than 10 minutes to get our cocktails. (We all ordered simple drinks such as scotch on the rocks). After our cocktails finally arrived, we still hadn’t been served ice water. We had to ask for ice water. Subsequent drink orders were slow to arrive. My chicken was dry and tough. IMO, the experience wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great. OTOH – to be fair - my dinner companions were satisfied. I therefore think I’ve been generous in rating 3 out of 5 stars.

Unfortunately, we try our best to accommodate all requests, with the evening being as busy as it was, we offered a half booth half table. This is a yearly birthday celebration. As usual we had a marvellous time. Our server Matt was very attentive to our needs and offered suggestions for items. We always get filet and lobster tail. Steak always done to our different tastes. Lobster was always firm and flavourful. Seasonal speciality drinks a joy to partake. Looking forward to next time.

J. Gilbert's never disappoints. The food is scrumptious and service is stellar. I had my first bad experience with an entree choice last night and it was immediately made right by my server and the manager. What could have been a very disappointing dinner ended up being superb. I now have TWO favorite dishes there. Kindness and attentiveness from the serving staff is a huge bonus for me and a big factor in dining here.
