Le J. Gilbert's – Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood - McLean est un steakhouse chic et décontracté servant du bœuf maturé de qualité cuit sur un gril au feu de bois de mesquite. Lunch was delicious! I had a cheeseburger---always an excellent choice and one I often have if am there for lunch---juicy, quality beef, and prepared as I asked. My friend had a French dip sandwich as suggested by our server and said it was one of the best she had ever eaten. We both had salads which were fresh, crispy, with just the right amount of dressing. Kudos to our wonderful, attentive (but not too much so) server, Brandon. He was phenomenal. Next time I book will definitely request one of his tables.

As a usual customer this was the worst service experience. Orders were wrong and food came out late on the reorders. Had to ask for items several times. The steak and crab cakes were undercooked. They apologized after each mistake but there were many. Salads with no dressing so we asked for dressing. She came back with a Diet Coke. LoL She brought scallops instead for one person when nobody ordered it. The time the correct order came out everyone else was done eating. We got the desserts to go. Probably going to think twice about returning anytime soon.

It had been a little over 10 years since we last visited J. Gilbert's. We'd never been for brunch however. Service was great, the food, though limited, was decent. But I think our biggest disappointment was the lack of updating/evolution of the Restaurant. The seats are so worn and cracked now. And, sit extremely low in relation to the table. We felt like we needed booster seats lol. J. Gilbert's is a treasure in our opinion. We hope they keep up with the times and continue to be that treasure we remembered

Special mention of server Brandon is necessary. We've eaten at this restaurant and the servers are always great, but Brandon was always there and stood out! So too the Tamir woman who showed us to our seats. She was carefully and unobtrusively solicitious during meal. Nice touch to the restaurant service family. As always, the food was very good!

Great waiter (who said he was in training but he’s a quick learner!) Loved the quiet booth in the back and my NYC friends were very happy. Steak very tasty but a bit tough…

Our server and his trainee were phenomenal. We truly enjoyed the entire experience. The steaks and seafood were perfect. My ribeye was one of the best I’ve ever had. For the manager - our fantastic waiter had hair pulled back in a ponytail it think and facial hair and the assistant/trainee was an Asian woman with glasses. I’m sorry I can’t remember their names.

I live in Los Angeles but have business in McLean once a year. So I have had lunch meetings two consecutive years at J. Gilbert’s. Always good food, fairly priced with great service!
