Le J. Gilbert's – Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood - McLean est un steakhouse chic et décontracté servant du bœuf maturé de qualité cuit sur un gril au feu de bois de mesquite. Would have been a 5, but the drinks are 3 star drinks. Service excellent. Drinks are not strong or weak in terms of alcohol, they are just not mixed any better than average. No bold flavors in the manhattan or margarita, just not as stellar as the food or service.

This was a birthday lunch for my sister. We had the special of fried lobster & chips which was advertised on line as a 3-day event, but the waitress didn't know it was an offering. The lobster was very good, but should have included small forks to get the meat out as it was difficult & messy to eat. Slaw was fine, but french fries were too slender & pretty tasteless. The waitress was quite indifferent for most of the meal, but other staff (new manager) stepped in & was very helpful. A delicious chocolate cake with candle was a freebie for her birthday & a very nice touch.

It was the best dinner meal I've enjoyed at your establishment and I've been patronizing your venue for 18 years. Joan was wonderful as usual and I requested she be our server celebrating my 75th Birthday. Everything was top notch and my daughter and I enjoyed our drinks, wine and entrees very much. Keep up the good work. I love your restaurant.

Overall a great meal. Only downside was one of our party wasn’t actually asked how she wanted her steak cooked and it came out medium well at best - maybe closer to well done. She would’ve preferred medium rare, and for a $59 steak I would’ve preferred it cooked to order. She didn’t want to send it back so we didn’t mention it. Otherwise everything was cooked well and was delicious. Nice touch offering a free dessert to our birthday person.

Fish tacos and Maryland Crab Bisque lunch combo for the win. Absolutely delicious.

This was our 5th time at J Gilbert's in the past two years. The first four times were good to fairly good. But this will likely be our last dinner there for a while. This was an anniversary dinner, and other than the hostess wishing us a happy anniversary, that was the only mention of our special day. But that was the least of it. The service was very poor, and the food was mediocre. The entire evening was a waiting event. We even had to go the hostess stand to pay the bill.
