We let waitress know we were in time crunch bc has to make show and she made sure everything came out in timely manner but still tasted amazing!!

In Riva has excellent drinks and northern Italian dishes. Our wait staff was terrific, and the restaurant is good looking. Problems? Parking on the weekend is non-existent (there is a paid lot across the street that we were told no one pays at. And we parked there for four hours without a ticket or being towed.) The food and drink prices are high, and the portion sizes are small.

An oddly situated restaurant with very tight parking if you are lucky enough to get it. We were seated in what I would characterize as the bar area. It was noisy as one would expect on a Saturday evening. The waiter was reasonably responsive but failed to bring us napkins with our food. When we requested them he handed us two small black paper bar napkins, but at the tables around us white cloth napkins were in use. Interestingly, the salads we ordered, which were brought first, came with a fork and soup spoon, which meant that when the warm appetizer-size dishes arrived we had no knife. That and the napkins made the service seem somewhat distracted. I requested sparkling water and was told that only club soda was available, which was surprising — In Riva does not offer sparkling bottled water? As for the food, the cucumber salad is delightful and interestingly composed. It has traces of fresh oregano and mint and what look like edamame, lots of them. If you had good bread, a lovely chewy boule with butter, for instance, the salad could be a meal, as the portion is generous. The bread, however, that accompanied a shrimp dish was not worthwhile. It was large pieces sliced on the bias and licked by flames but there was none of that yeasty savory depth or pleasing texture. The shrimp I received in the small cast iron dish had the tails on and were overcooked, but the sauce was just right. A new polenta dish with cheese sauce and those slender green shriveled peppers like those widely eaten in Spain was very good, with the polenta cubes toasted on each side. We often order takeout from In Riva, and the chef's iteration of chicken Parmesan is consistently the best and most uniquely imagined I've ever had. It's dark meat, at once succulent and almost caramelized, if one can say that of meat. The serving is small, the tomato sauce is fresh and piquant. Obviously the chef has a vision and a style. A few things ought to be tugged into alignment, though, especially service.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at In Riva, and it was truly a delightful experience. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere immediately put me at ease, with its warm lighting and rustic decor creating an inviting ambiance. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. She provided excellent recommendations and ensured our needs were met throughout the meal. The service was prompt without feeling rushed, allowing us to enjoy our dining experience fully. The star of the show was undoubtedly the food. Riva specializes in Napoletana-style pizza prepared in a wood-fired oven, and it did not disappoint. The pizza crust was perfectly charred and chewy, with a delicious blend of toppings that complemented each other beautifully. The house-made pasta was equally impressive, cooked to al dente perfection and tossed in a flavorful sauce. To cap off our meal, we indulged in a sweet calzone for dessert. It was a delightful surprise, with a crispy exterior giving way to a warm, gooey filling that satisfied our sweet tooth without being overly heavy. The restaurant also offers an impressive selection of drinks, including specialty cocktails and a well-curated wine list. The happy hour specials are particularly noteworthy, making it an excellent spot for after-work drinks or a casual evening out. Overall, In Riva offers a winning combination of cozy atmosphere, attentive service, and exceptional food. Whether you're in the mood for authentic Italian pizza, pasta, or just a relaxing evening by the Schuylkill River, In Riva is definitely worth a visit.

Really good “fancy” pizza—nice flavors and great textured crust. The arugula salad was well balanced in flavor and texture. Service was overall good but hard to catch servers attention if we needed something in between her check ins. For those not drinking, they didn’t have any NA options, which feels behind the times
