Il Cantinori, situé à Greenwich Village, a été à l'avant-garde de la cuisine toscane à New York depuis son ouverture en 1983. Cette ancienne ferme dotée d'une chaleur rustique, de murs en stuc, poutres apparentes et arrangements floraux volumineux offre une ambiance romantique et élégante. We had a sub-par dining experience here. While the food was excellent, the issue was with the service. We were there celebrating my wife's birthday. I even told the waiter so. When my wife asked for a wine suggestion, the waiter could not have been any less helpful. He basically said what was available by the glass and could not be bothered to be tell her about the wines when she said what she was looking for. She ultimately ordered a Pinot Grigio and sent it back because it was not to her liking. When she asked if there was anything like a Sancere (which we knew was not available as we were in an Italian restaurant), he responded that they don't have Sancere and then proceeded to not provide any guidance of what she may like. He basically said that there's nothing she would like (she was just looking for a dry white wine). My wife said forget it for the time being and let's just order the food. After he took our food order for the five of us, he left. He then came back and asked if my wife (who had gone to the bar to ask for some suggestions) had made a decision on wine. I told him that she went to see what the bartender had to offer because there was no direction from him. He shrugged and moved on. No apology, no nothing. Without too much time at the bar, she quickly returned to the table with a very nice white wine that she was quite happy with. That said, for this level of dining, this should never have happened. You're paying top dollar for food and service, and the waiters should realize that. Our waiter was completely uncaring and blase. He was also rude to one of my daughters when she was trying to order a tri-selection pasta dish, which she has ordered in past. After someone else at the table had ordered it, he said it had to be the same 3 pastas or not at all. Ridiculous response. He should not have come to work that day (or work elsewhere) as he really put a damper on what should have been a very nice celebratory dinner.

Everything we ate was delicious. My husband and I shared the Chicken Parm special and a pasta. The only negative was the service, we loved our waiter but he was very busy. Twice they brought our meal to the wrong. person and quickly corrected but nevertheless, maybe they should have replaced. Also they brought us the wrong dessert, Having said that the meal was incredible from the appetizers to the dessert (tartufo). The service was abysmal. Honestly our issues should have been addressed

Such a buzzy and bustling night! Dinner on the deck. Service and meal were superb - loved our waiter. Just a wonderful night. Veal Parm was excellent.

What a find!! Il Cantinori was everything we hoped it would be and more! As soon as we approached the restaurant we were drawn in aesthetically with the twinkle lights, gorgeous flower arrangements and candlelit white tablecloths. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table by the sweetest wait staff. They were attentive to our needs throughout our meal, suggesting appetizers and truly outstanding specials and desserts. I can’t speak highly enough of this restaurant and will absolutely be back. We had one of the best meals we’ve ever had.

excellent atmosphere,service and food was prepared perfectly delcious . we shared 2 pastas between five people for an appetizer in addition to another apps and they were wonderful to service each of the the pasta split in the kitchen for each of us. I found that to be a very nice touch. we enjoyed a relaxing evening with wonderful service very attentive but never rushed.
