HY'S is the best steak House in Winnipeg, our host Danny does a 110 % awesome job. Wish we could hire him personally at home. We try to go a few times a month but our busy schedules doesn't allow that to happen.

We have no complaints. Everything was better than we expected and Benjamin topped the night off with his service.

No better place for a birthday celebration. As a regular customer at this fine establishment, we always feel good about the experience. I like the intimacy and ambience of the lounge. We never feel rushed. the waitstaff is always warm and friendly. If it's not 100%, they take care of us.

Filet mignon came very undercooked. Took a very long time for the waiter to come and take acknowledge us and take our drink order. Food was very plain tasting. Steak was barely seasoned and the mash potatoes were nothing to write home about.

First time at hys, went on a first date, service was excellent, Kelly was our waiter and he was very pleasant. We requested to change our reservation from 8 to 830, with only 2hrs notice, Brenda was more than happy to change the time, no questions asked. Twice they offered to pay for parking, once at arrival, and later on through the meal, but we didn't need it, another convenient gesture by the staff. Exquisite luxury decor, washrooms were adorned with nice art (whole restaurant was) and were very clean. Really cool location at historical Portage and main. Lively feel being at the heart of the city. Food was delicious, portion sizes were bang-on! We had escargot and cheese bread for 2 for appetizers, both were great. Was amazing presentation of all dishes, especially eye-catching was the tableside service with the flambe (we didn't have any but saw a neighbouring table have the banana dessert with rum flambe - felt the heat from the fire 🔥 was really nice). My date had the filet, and I had the steak and lobster entree. Kelly cut the shells off the lobster for me, which was a nice gesture, but not before he allowed me to snap a quick photo of the beautiful dish. Very kind staff, all around, everyone was polite and kind. Creme brulee was prepared to perfection and drinks were too. 10/10 will be back! thank you Hy's for making our first date a delightfully memorable one.

Disappointed with overall experience. Special night out for birthday. Waiter was great. My wife ordered the daily special the waiter described and I ordered the rib steak. A while after we ordered the server came back and apologized that the kitchen did not have prawns for the daily special. Disappointed since this was one of the reasons to order the special. A while after that the server came back to tell me that the kitchen was out of rib steaks. A steak house out of steak. He asked me what other cut I wanted. I came for the rib steak, and not for a different cut. I ordered the strip. When paying over $300 for a high end steak house I would expect the restaurant to have the food offered and advertised.
