Hy's Steakhouse applique une politique de code vestimentaire strict. Chemise à col et chaussures fermées sont obligatoires. Les maillots de bain ou les casquettes sont interdites. Hy's Steak House est un restaurant primé au cœur de Waikiki. Ouvert en 1976, Hy's est un favori des locaux et des visiteurs depuis près de 40 ans. Les spécialités de Hy's comprennent le boeuf qualité USDA Kiawe, l'agneau succulent, les fruits de mer, ainsi que des préparations de nombreux plats classiques. Hy's jouit d'une liste exquise de vin avec un accent sur les rouges des vignobles les plus réputés du monde entier. L'ambiance vieux monde est classique et très confortable.     Hy’s used to be our favorite restaurant but last night was not the same experience that we’re used to. We arrived early so the hostess offered for us to wait in the bar area. We ordered 2 drinks and an oyster Rockefeller. When our table was ready, the hostess returned to walk us to our table. But it seemed that the hostess did not communicate with the staff that we started in the bar. The 2 male employees in white long sleeve shirts and vests were very confused. I don’t feel that we should have explained that we started at the bar. This was the first visit where the transition was not seamless. We also had to ask for our bread twice. We were also seated at our table for 10 minutes before our server greeted us. And he also had to ask if we started at the bar. We ordered the Caesar salad to start. Our server made it side table and it was the worst salad we’ve had at Hy’s. The dressing was clumpy, not smooth. There was way too much garlic. We couldn’t even finish eating it because the taste was just garlic. We ordered the A5 Wagyu special and the prime rib. We requested both be medium rare. The Wagyu was cooked to a medium well. It still tasted good but I would have liked it on the rare side. This is the first time our meat wasn’t cooked to what we requested. We ended our meal with the banana foster. It’s our favorite but we were disappointed with the one made for us last night. He did not take the time wait for the sauce to thicken so it was like we were eating bananas in a sugary soup. Very disappointing. We look forward to celebrating our anniversary and birthdays at Hy’s. But this was the first time that we were disappointed with the service and food.

    The food was amazing! Everything was delicious. However the service wasn’t as well as I’ve received in the past. The waiter didn’t check in with us unless we would have ordered another round of drink before our entrees. And after the restaurant confirmed with me at least 4 times that I or my party was celebrating a birthday, there was absolutely no acknowledgement at the table as I declined to buy myself a $16 chess cake on the phone with one confirmation. Didn’t feel special and I e celebrated my birthday previously at Hys where it did feel special. Little disappointed with my experience this time.

    Sat at the bar. The bartender was two women and they were fantastic!!! Comfy big chairs. Food was OUTSTANDING!! Table side dessert topped everything off!!! We own a restaurant and we were extremely impressed!!

    We normally rate Hy’s a 5!! However this experience did not live up to their high standards! We arrived early and were seated in the bar by a hostess only to be told minutes later by another hostess someone was waiting for this table and we’d have to move to the bar seats! Truthfully worked out better, the bartenders were great! We were seated at our dining table exactly at our reservation time at a great table in the library! Our server was busy making a banana foster at the table across from us and barely acknowledged us!! Obviously this table were regulars and consumed much of our server’s time! When he was able to serve us, he was nice but seemed very flustered! It appeared the captain could sense our server’s difficulties and made our Caesar salad. He brought the salad cart to table and then proceeded to talk to the honored guests at table across from us for quite awhile! I finally said something to him and he joked an apology and then made one of the best Caesar salads we’ve ever had. To summarize, the food was very good as always but the service was lacking and we did not feel our server was up to par this night which certainly affected our experience! Having our picture taken and put in a frame was a very nice touch!

    Thank you for your review. It seems there are a number of things we need to do better. Once you have a server attending to your table that server should be giving you and your guests their total attention. It also seems communication was not good regarding your time with us.     Habitué de ce restaurant chaque année nous avons trouvé une baisse totale de qualité, un service très lent, beaucoup de bruit et une addition pas justifié vu le contexte actuel de l’établissement

    We love Hy’s, we go there only for “very special”occasions, because it’s “very” pricey. But we love it there, the ambience and food presentation… entertaining. My son and I love their “Beef Wellington” too.
