Le Hondos est une destination de choix à Richmond pour déguster un excellent steak. Il vous propose une variété de morceaux de viande parfaitement vieillis, grillés à la demande et servis grésillants. Trois différentes coupes de filet mignon, du faux-filet Cowboy et du T-Bone de 680 grammes figurent au menu. Le Hondos est également spécialisé dans les fruits de mer frais, proposant d'énormes pâtés de crabe (sans aucun remplissage), des queues de homard d'Afrique du Sud et la « prise fraîche » du jour, pour n'en nommer que quelques-uns. Great service and food. Reasonable pricing on wine…dining room was kind of empty but allowed for nice quiet evening. Looking forward to going back.

Soup and salad were excellent. Crab cakes were very good, not quite to G&M Restaurant in Baltimore standards but quite good. Service was very good.

Went to Hondo's for my wife's birthday. The restaurant itself is very nice. Atmosphere is quiet, lighting is just right for a very nice date night. Service is what you would expect from an upscale dinning establishment, with the exception of follow up when things did not seem right. When it came to the food everything was excellent except for the steaks. Both mine and my wife's steaks came out overdone for what we ordered. I am not one to send food back and they were just a little over done so we proceeded with our meal. When dealing with Grade A Prime steak a slightly over cooked stake is rarely an issue. This is where I was surprised. The steaks to me, were not Prime cut. They were very dry especially for a steak that was ordered medium rare but came out medium. I could get a better quality steak at a chain steak house for 1/3 the price. I was able to finish my steak with a lot of wine to wash it down. My wife on the other hand took about three bites of her 12oz filet and was done. She gave up when she had to forcibly cut through her stake and was having trouble. The thing that sealed it for me as to why we will not be going back is when the waiter asked my wife if she would like a box. She said, no and it was not questioned. My wife had just basically said throw 9oz of "prime" filet mignon away. The waiter and the food runner already knew I said the steaks were overcooked but was not going to send it back. They never came back and asked how our steak was once we started eating. It was like he was afraid to ask. Nice kid but was very timid. My wife says I look intimidating so I did not hold the waiters meek demeanor against him. :) We left a nice tip and left. We made the best of it, had a very nice date night despite the poor quality steaks. I will be going elsewhere for a prime steak next time.

The place is first a great place to dine. The waiter Delmar Harris is a top notch professional. He caters to your every need. You can tell he has been doing this for a long time. He knows what you need before you ask . He is an asset to the company and makes your dining experience enjoyable. The food is always good no matter what I get. The ambience of the dinner is excellent, I love the table cloths and the little romantic lamp on the table. I recommend this place to everyone.

We've dined at Hondo's on more than several occasions but never a buffet. We were there just after opening, and I don't think they were quite ready. Some items on the menu were missing (shrimp and grits being one). The prime rib was nothing special. Basically, it was a $35 buffet sold for $55. Service was adequate, friendly. Hondo's can't be beat for ambience though. It's always very comfortable, cozy. Would we do the New Year's Day buffet again? No, not at that price.

For being a $76.00 steak, it was not great at all. It was tough and underseasoned. Very disappointed. The creme brulee was just shy of scrambled eggs--the worst I've ever had at Hondos. Dinner companions were satisfied with their meals (I was the only one to have steak). Took server forever to remove unused glassware and dirty dishes from table.
