The Dining Room est situé dans l'ancien salon et exhibe encore ses lustres en cristal originaux. Aujourd'hui peint d'un ton kaki chaleureux, la salle propose un mélange de confortables banquettes rembourrées, de fauteuils et de chaises plus classiques. Que ce soit pour prendre le thé et des scones en après-midi ou savourer un repas à plusieurs services préparé par le chef Steve Sperling, manger au restaurant Hobnob est toujours quelque chose de spécial.

La carte des vins propose le meilleur de Niagara, y compris une merveilleuse sélection de vins de glace, parfaits pour accompagner votre dessert de prédilection. Pendant les mois chauds, il est possible de souper aux chandelles sur la terrasse couverte avec vue sur le jardin et sur le plus ancien parcours de golf en Amérique du Nord.

Our experience at this restaurant was awful from start to finish. When we arrived, three couples were already waiting at the front desk with no one in sight to seat us. Once seated, our server, who was working alone, assured us she wouldn't forget us, which should have been the first red flag. We ordered a wedge salad (vegetarian, no prosciutto), mussels, and fish tacos (without kimchi). It took an hour for our server to come and update us on what was happening with our food. Despite being reassured every 20 minutes that it was on the way. The server, though sympathetic, kept bringing items like salt and pepper, ketchup, and empty bowls, but still no food. It took an hour and a half for us to receive our meals. It was an utterly bizarre experience and the server said there was a chef changeover, which I can only assume meant our orders were never placed and forgotten, or it was one chef cooking for the entire (not busy) restaurant. When the food finally arrived, everything was wrong. The wedge salad ( a pathetic slice of iceberg lettuce that could be whipped up in 5 minutes) had prosciutto and chicken, and the fish tacos came with kimchi. The mussels were subpar with far too many empty shells for the price point. Despite the server's apology and our entire meal being comped, the experience ruined our day, especially since I was showing guests around from out of country. Even with the free meal, the service was non existent, the food was awful, and I simply couldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone expecting timely service or proper dietary accommodations.

We had the 6 course tasting menu. It was well planned and well executed. The only sour note was the wait necessary before any food arrived. From the moment we arrived to getting our amuse bouche it was almost an hour. The rest of the meal was served in a leisurely manner. If we had known what to expect we might have skipped this option and chose the regular a al carte menu.

We like Hobnob and dined here many times. Personally I like to have a bigger table for seating of 4 than 2 small round tables. Price is always on the high side but the quality is still good.

Service from the wait staff was very good but unfortunately the kitchen and management are letting them down. First impressions when entering the restaurant was poor. The entrance was filthy and needs a good cleaning. We sat at a window and the exterior of the window also needs cleaning. Food was underwhelming especially at the pricing. Soup was described as a a creamy black cod coconut soup. Not creamy at all no taste of coconut and very little cod and very little flavour. I ordered the sous vide salmon. It was overcooked and had not been seasoned and the skin and dark oily flesh was left on. Fine to leave the skin on if cooked and crisped. The best part of this dish was the rice and the sauce of which there wasn't enough. My partner had the filet and this was very good even though it was an end piece not centre cut which at $60 I would expect. We were disappointed as it's a wonderful location in a historic building.

Very nice venue. Front reception and serving staff seem to be inexperienced and which could be fixed with a bit more training in etiquette, especially considering the level this restaurant aspires to be at. Servers talking to customers with hands in their pockets, or making customers reuse their utensils doesn’t match the level it needs to be. Food was good, creative but a bit overpriced. Six course dinner for a couple should be mixed for each person, instead of everything being identical, especially at this price mark. Overall I would recommend it but I think it’s underserved at this price point.
