The problem last night was the food and food selection. The salmon and the tomato salad and dessert were great. The duck and fish curry and pork were not so good. Many things were a little too spicy. I think their new Fall menu is lacking. The ambitions of the kitchen were high. Maybe to many complicated additions to the dishes and less attention to how they actually taste.

Always a treat when we are in Portland to eat here. The chef is always creating interesting variations of classic dishes mixed with creative surprises.

Excellent lunch...the tomato eggplant soup as a side sounded a little strange but one spoonful quickly changed our perception. It was outstanding. Higgins is never a disappointment-lunch or dinner.

Higgins always provides a lovely experience. The food is consistently fabulous and high quality and the service is always very pleasant. Would definitely recommend.

Higgins never disappoints. The menu always features great creativity making it hard to decide what to eat. Specials feature the freshest ingredients and are prepared in such a way as to highlight flavors and textures. The space is comfortable , though a bit noisy as our waiter had to lean in so we could hear him. ( I have no hearing deficits.) the wait staff are well- informed and very helpful. Meals are not rushed. Higgins also is a favored space when guests come to town. It is definitely an “oldie but goodie” Greg Higgins has earned his Beard Award many times over in my view.

We had an amazing dinner at Higgins. Everything from starters- tomato gazpacho, moussette, terrines; the entrees- three way duck, three way pork posole, saffron risotto, grilled abacore tuna- all phenomenal; the deserts also exceptional- ice cream (saffron/orange blossom, olive oil/bay leaf) and the chocolate budino- we are still salivating the next day 😋😋😋 so we write this review and to share with others. The waiting staff also are worth mentioning- our server and the others are so nice and attentive. Amazing experience !!! Surely we will come back if we go back to visit Portland again !!!
